'02 Trans Am WS6 Value
I have a friend who going to be selling his '02 T/A WS6 car, and is wondering the value of his car. It is virtually new, stored in a climate controlled garage and has 3,250 miles on it.The car has every option on it, the 6 disc changer has never been unwrapped. It is an automatic, black on black car. He took delivery, brought it home and stored the car in his garage, did not want the dealer to touch it. He has kept the car under cover, and it is perfect. Any ideas of value? Thanks, Jon

I have been thinking of purchasing a 98-02 WS6 and cant beleive the prices on these cars most are priced way higher than book value and they are nothing but 8+ year old used cars. Would like to trade my SS aero coupe for one or another Pontiac equal to in value to it. The low milage on this one would definately make it worth the NADA high value or round about that area. Problem is every one is selling and no one seems to be buying.

We need to stop asking what something is worth and start asking what would you pay!
The market is so out of whack these days....what is the price you would actually take the money out of your wallet, bank, stocks, kids college fund to buy something at.
Too many people are spouting prices that are 2-3-&-4 years old giving sellers high hopes, and nothing is selling! When PERFECT RA IV intakes can be bought (with crossovers) for less than $500 and pristine RA IV RA air cleaners for less than $400 - the game has changed!
Sorry Jon, back to your thread....

Just take a look at e-bay completed auctions to get an idea of what comparable cars are selling for. There are a lot of guys asking for big money, but not getting it. After a quick scan of COMPLETED auctions it seems that similar cars are selling in the $14K range. Your friend's car may be worth a few more dollars from the low milage, although many that I saw that sold had only 12 to 15 thousand miles on them. While 3,250 is certainly low miles it's more than can be sold "as new".

I picked up an '02 Collector's Ed. T/A with 43k for $14k last November. Alot of people on Ebay were asking in the $20k-$25k range for this car at the time I found the T/A on a free classified website.

Why?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes,I know about the 6 yr throw them away thing, but I would have left that to the new owner's discretion...........and he will take a lot lower than that 25k now,I know.
Back to the thread,yes,4th gen prices have dropped significantly recently,.....I'm keepin my plain old non WS6(wish I had a WS6 )TA for quite a while.

The last WS6 cars should hold their value fairly well, these cars have a decent following.
The ones with low miles that haven't been modified will hopefully stabilize, of course now isn't the time to be selling.
I doubt I'll ever sell mine, an automatic '02 with just under 25K miles.

I just bought my wife one a few weeks ago. This is the first 4th gen that I've driven and I love it! .
I looked at any 98-02 WS6 cars with less than 20k miles. I carfaxed about 25.
Cars with really low miles, like 10k or less, are being advertised from $20,000 and way on up. Average asking price is around $25,000.... I didn't see too many selling.
I wanted a true one owner car, with no mods, like the OP's friend's car. I found that is a tall order, even on the low mileage cars.
She fell in love with a 02 Sunset Orange 6 speed Firehawk on ebay. It had 11k miles on it. I offered $23,000 for it. I was shocked when I lost it to a higher offer of $25k.
After that, I was bent on finding her a Sunset Orange one, that's also a tall order because its a really low production color.
Finally found one, a 2001 WS6 auto with black insides. Only 8000 miles and a true one owner car. I gave $23,000.
No buyer remorse, its exactly what we wanted, and perfect condition. In retrospect, Im glad I didn't get the 6 speed Hawk- It's the one in the first thumbnail below.

That a fine rare SOM Hawk you got there for a nice price, and 8k miles,..sweet.
I love that color and love the Hawks,I think they are a VERY collectible rare late Pontiac.
The 01 and 02's had the bigger cam and LS6 intake, pushing 317hp at the rear whls, that's like 375 true hp,........not bad for a stock late model car.
Nice car.

Naw man, the WS6 TA is ours. The Hawk does look sweet. It was owned by the guy who co-founded LS1tech. I think he said it was 1 of 14 SOM Formula Hawks or something along those lines. I missed the Hawk due to a higher offer.I offered $23k and he turned me down. He said he got $25k. It is the car that made my wife ask for a SOM car though. Im happy to find the TA even with an auto. I think its probably a better car for her.
