Default First build post in almost a decade, here is my 490 street engine

It’s been a long time since I frequented the PY forum but 2 back surgeries a busy shop and 5 kids has that effect but thought I’d share my personal 490 I’m building for my 1973 luxury lemans, normally id be posting a customer engine so this will be different lol
This is based on the original engine except for the intake manifold, car will mainly be a street deal so I can play a bit, its a flat tappet but everything is set up to be roller with a couple changes when i can afford it.
Im using the original TH400 trans, 2600 stall, 3.08 and 2.41 posi 10 bolt, 275-60-15 ET streets
1973-400 2 bolt with ARP studs, oil passages radius’d
4.165” bore, -.002 deck height, .0025 rods and main clearance
SGI 4340 4.50” stroke crankshaft, 6.700” scat pro comp I-beam rods, UEM 4.3cc flat top pistons 9.88:1 compression, 3/4 groove main bearings, king rods, clevitte cam bearings
Modified and blueprinted M54DS oil pump, butler pro plate, Canton Road Race Pan, modified tomahawk tray and crank scraper
9-keyway summit timing set, Pro Products balancer
Crower 60919 camshaft degreed to 113* ILC Crower Cam saver lifters, Smith Brothers 5/16 .083 wall 9.225” pushrods
1973 4X3 heads CNC ported back when SD did Iron heads, then hand blended with chamber work by me, flowed before and after hand work, 260cfm before and 273in 222ex at .600 after, i got them with no finish work done back in the day to save, pick whatever numbers you believe, heads turned out very nice
They are using Ferrea 5000 series SS 2.11in 1.77ex valves 30* back cut on intakes, Comps new 26995 Beehive springs designed for hydraulic flat tappet cams in pontiacs and olds, Comp retainers, 10* locks, Spring seats, ARP rocker studs And poly locks, Melling 1.65” stamped rocker arms
Fully ported 72 iron intake, I have a couple ive ported and modified to test with including One that is 80% burr finish and 60 grit in the transitions
17056263 apt style 850 Q-jet i build using Cliffs parts exclusively, Factory distributor with Pertronix 3 with rev limiter, i may instead go with HEI I don’t know yet
Cheap long tube headers, id like to get a set of OS RARE manifolds i can port and use but they are hard to come by now
I should be done with the build in the next 3-4 months assuming I can get it on the dyno, I don’t expect a ton of HP with the cam im using but it still should be fun either way!

Thank you yeah I have no doubt it will have no trouble smoking the tires until I let off the throttle! And it still has AC, the older I get the less I want something that is extremely rowdy for my street car
