Scoop, I wonder if anyone makes a slightly bigger one. I always thought they looked good on a tempest but a little small on a big car.

A friend of mine bought this car a few years ago. It has since had body and paint done and a 462 dropped in. I am opinionated, but think the scoop looks nice on a 64.

Had to turn it . . .looks like more “shaping” to fit a ‘64 hood.

I think it looks really nice as well. I am just scared to death to cut up my beautiful hood. I think it's painted in lacquer and may chip up badly. Matching the color may be an issue. If I can't get everything to fit, I may cut it.

Ouch, that's nice.

What color is that? I don't recall that color in the factory book when I had my '62 GP.

I think the color is Admiralty Blue? Looks a little different under the florescent lights. Tom, the 421 badges were already on when I bought it. Actually, I haven't touched the exterior and it's why I bought the car. It was just beautiful, interior too. Very solid, original floors and chassis as well. But a mechanical nightmare. Perfect for me to deal with. PHS said it was a 389 4BBL automatic originally delivered to High Point NC dealer. The current mid 70's 455 making probably 250 HP is really embarrassing. Help is on the way!! Tieman is a possibility if I have to cut the hood.

Nice car Mike. Looking foward to the updates when you put a motor together for it.

I think I will try my best to keep the flat hood for now. Chief is right the crown in the hood should help. I have a 3” element in it now and could go down to a 2.5” with a KN style lid if needed. I found some old threads and the T2 is over an inch shorter if needed. Just hate to spend another $400-$500 on another intake if I dont have to. Its only a street car that will never be able to use all the power its going to make anyways.

The color is called Ensign Blue. My dad bought a new 62 Catalina: Ensign Blue, tri-color blue interior, 4 speed, 3.90 posi, 8 lug wheel, and a Super Duty dual quad 421. The super duty 421 option cost almost as much as the car itself. My mother was not happy at all. As a 16 year old teenager, I was thrilled! I took my drivers license test in that car. My dad sold me the car in 1965 when he bought a new 2+2 H.O.

Thank you. That's the correct name for the color. I had my military nomenclature wrong! Pontiac had at least 3 blues in 1962. They were all pretty. The OP's 64 green is really striking. Seems greens came into their own later in the 60's and early 70's. Great story about your Dad's 62. What a car that must have been. I was fortunate to ride in a real aluminum SD Catalina once when I was 18 years old. Hooked for life, never looked back. Thank you PJ Heck!

Update… The Northwind intake and a 3” air cleaner fit no problem. Looks like I have at least an inch of clearance so I’m keeping the flat hood.
