Question 12v ign source

Where can I tap into an ignition source for after market extras? I did have them connected to a spade fitting in the fuse box under the dash but it's stopped working, no power there. I've had to connect to another one next to it but it's not on the ignition just live.

Cigarette lighter circuit is usually 20A. Do you need it to be switched ?

Use a relay to power a terminal for all your extras that you want to run off an ignition circuit. You can feed the power side off the battery and the trigger side off any ignition source including the positive side of the coil. The amount of amperage to trigger the relay is so low it will have no effect on your source.

Thanks. Can I feed a fuse box that then feeds my extras this way?

I feed a 12 circuit fuse box via an 80 amp relay in mine. Triggered by key on and cranking powered source. It's off when the key is off. I use a fusible link and battery power for the load side of the relay.

No power at that spade may be a blown fuse.
