This task would be an appropriate use of a "selfie stick"...

3925660 (extreme early '70 Muncie 4spd, usually in cars built very early in the production run) The "660" Muncie cases were used in '68 & 69 Muncie 4spd builds, so ck'ing the stamped Muncie production number & partial VIN will give you more info to what you are actually looking at. 3925661... Most '70 Muncie 4spds had an original "661" casting case. From all the Muncies I've owned over the years, next to all of them will have 27 spline tail shafts. The exception will be original M22's avail in high horse '70 Chevelles/Elco's, those will use the large tail shaft housing (same as all '71-mid 74 production Muncie 4spds). Have not had an original M22 out of a '70 375 horse Nova or '70 1/2 Camaro to document. Original M22's used in the last '69 production Camaro's will have "661" casting cases with "normal" Chevy usage 27 spline tail shaft hsgs with pass side speedo exit. Tailshaft housing... Will have the common 5 boss mtg pattern for the shifter mtg plate. Speedp cable will exit the DRIVERS side. Will have to go through the Muncies in my Muncie rack for the casting number. Side cover... Will have single TCS boss coming down diagonally from the front (3-4) lever. Casting number 3952642

Side cover
Are you sure the side cover is 3952642 and not 3952648? I have a tcs cover and it is the 648 casting. Thanks

Both the "642" & "648" covers were single boss design for the TCS switch.
In a few days i can ck the original M20 out of my customers '70 GTO, 05A Arlington body build. Engine & trans are rebuilt & awaiting reinstallation. Will also ck my '71 M22's. The single boss covers were used on Pontiac equipped Muncie 4spds up til '74 model. The later 2 boss style covers were used on '74 Muncies from what I've pulled.
