What's the difference between 1962 and 1964 full size rear drums? 1964 drums are easy to buy. Same size shoes aren't they?

59-63 original parts number for shoes was 5462870. Then 64 was 5465267.

Drums were 59-63 533124 but 64-66 were 9775688. I don't have the size data readily available but since both shoes and drums changed in 64 I would question the diameter and width being the same between 62 and 64.

Do you need 62 drums?

62 are smooth and 64 are finned for extra cooling.
I have 64 drums on my 62, don't recall the shoes being different.

I bought the car in December and found one of the rear drums badly scored. I also want to add self adjusting brake mechanism to rear brakes.

FYI I bought a pair of new rear drums for a '61 at O'Reilly about six months ago.

I looked online and replacement rear shoes are the same for both years. I took a rear drum off a 1964 GP and off my 1962 Bonneville and they interchange. The 1964 drum is finned and weighs twice as much as the 1962 one. Thanks webfoot. I wonder why nobody lists 1964 drums for the earlier cars. You go online and there is nothing listed for 1962.
