Default EVAP Canister Question

I recently converted my 74 Lemans GT from its 2 barrel carb to a 4 barrel setup on its 350> I used a 69 Qjet intake and Carb. My question is the 69 carb doesnt have the provision for the hose that goes to the charcoal canister so it is just tucked into the fender well by the canister. Is it needed or what should i do with it so it is not hooked up to anything as you do get a fuel smell from the hose? Thnx for any help or suggestions.

I'd remove the canister and, I believe, the hose goes to the fuel tank sending unit, so I'd remove it from the sending unit.
