Default Emblem painting

Got my 68 LeMans painted and now I'm cutting/buffing it. I got out my LeMans and PONTIAC emblems and I need to repaint them. I found an old thread where it said the white is "oyster white". I know it's not bright white like the letters on the repopped emblems. I can't find oyster white in Testors or Tamiya model paint. What are you guys using for paint/color?

Thanks, Jeff

I saw on a factory manufacturing drawing of a 69 emblem that the white was actually cameo white, which was the production white body color in those years

My lucky day as guess what color I just painted my 68?!?!?! Here is a picture of one of my letters next to my freshly painted Cameo Ivory. Gto4evr and I were just chatting about painting them with my leftover paint prior to me seeing your response. They must have been originally a gloss finish then?

Do you have a copy of that drawing by chance?

Any suggestions for the red in the 350 rocker emblems?

Thanks, Jeff

I have a photo copy of that drawing somewhere but it’s been years since I looked at it.

As for the 350 emblems they were a much darker red than the repris which have an orange tinge.

I hear you on the orange. Ok, I'll look at originals again. I know they weren't too faded, just peeling. I'll see what I can come up with to match

Those 350 rocker emblems turn up regularly and cheaply on eBay.

Take a look at the Testor's red enamel in the tiny bottle. Just eyeballing, it looks pretty good to me.

I used this a couple of years ago.

Nobody that has looked at them has called me on it yet.

David, you're talking just the white I assume since there is no red on any of the Gto emblems? I think I have the white figured out, I'll use some of my left over Cameo Ivory.

Of course no one would call you out on it. Case in point, the wrong bright white that are on the repop emblems. There are so many out on cars now, people think that's the way they were. Kinda like the 400 decals on the air cleaner lids!

as a follow up to what we were talking about yesterday, pretty sure the 1103 red was the one I used and after awhile in the sun it definitely went darker than it should have been. the originals have an orangey tint to them that bleaches more orange when they get old in the sun.

I'm really leaning in for the 1175 flourscent red. I'm going to order a bottle and see what it looks like just for my own sake. that one I took the pic of for you yesterday was a real nice original I'd picked off of ebay last year.
