Default 1964 "78X" GTO engine for sale/complete.

Available is a 1964 GTO engine. Engine block code is “78X” which is manual transmission, 325 HP, casting number 9773155, dated E44. The original cylinder heads are casting number 9770719 dated D224, Original intake manifold, original Exhaust manifolds are 9773442, Carburetor: Carter AFB 3651 S or 3647 S (hard to read). Starter is original, numbered 1107294 4 E, Original Distributor has an aluminum collar around it and it reads 1111054. Engine is complete with clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, bellhousing, original chrome air cleaner and original chrome valve covers, original pulley’s and original harmonic balancer. I do not know how or why this engine was separated from the original car and do not know mileage. Based on appearance of this complete engine it does not appear to have ever been apart but have no way of proving that. I pulled the valve covers off to look at the valve train, all original and no sludge build up, surprisingly clean, engine rolls over freely. Stored indoors for decades under the workbench. There is a small hole in the top of the aluminum bell housing and I do not know why, perhaps something fell on it, off the work bench for I see no other damage inside or out. It is a couple inches tall by about three inches wide and very fixable. Definitely was not "cut" in there ? Previous owner passed away a few years ago and this plus multiple vehicles were sold to settle the estate. Located in Bay City, Michigan. $ 1,500.00 I took multiple photos if you need them. Engine is not mine, helping a friend put it out there to reunite it hopefully with another 64 GTO. Possible delivery to Norwalk if engine is paid for in full prior to event. PM me for additional details and I can reach out to the owner for answers and or put you in touch with him directly. Thank You.

Mark Moon, PM answered.

Engine is available for Norwalk delivery if paid for up front otherwise driving down in a car verses pickup truck. Thank You for your interest.

*Update*

This engine has been sold and now resides in Kentucky. Thanks to all the interested parties. Nice to see it find it's way back into service and breathe life back into it's rightful chassis. Thanks everyone.

Tim
