Anyone know best way to repair the broken prongs on these parking light housings?

Kevin, What you could do is carefully drill out the two dimples that are holding the plastic assembly & it will come out the front. Find a donor set in whatever condition & use them for the plastics & connectors. you could either epoxy in the replacements, or drill two 1/16" deep holes in the plastic 90 degrees from the existing ones & center punch new dimples. The rubber boot will cover the holes & dimples. I did this on my original rear tail light sockets to completely disassemble them. I can post or send you picts if it would help.

BUT, now you have the cornering light. Was that type bulb holder used on any other car? maybe some of the big cars. I saw the extra connector in one of your earlier pictures & made me wonder what the cornering light looked like. I have never seen one before.

Otherwise, maybe you can find another complete set & add the cornering light? Looks the same as my std ones otherwise.

Do your lights have a special lens? Almost must to separate the illumination from each bulb?

Here’s a decade old thread discussing the 2 bulb parking light housings. Uses same lense. One bulb is clear and one is amber.

Interesting! My car is a January Pontiac MI car & the harness never had the extra connectors for the bulbs. Cool feature, until you need parts I suppose

Cornering lamps that come on when you activate your turn signals are very common on most modern cars but back in the late 1960s that was a very rare option. I have them on the car I drive everyday and they are very useful at night!

On those housings it looks like both bulb sockets are swedged into the steel housing. Like a roll former did that.

The only way to really fix that would be to carefully remove the old sockets and somehow figure out a way to attach new replacement sockets in their place. You may need to cut and put a new plug-in end on the front headlamp harness for both sides. I would look to a 1980s or 1990s GM car with those weather-pack sealed connectors. Those can be found in any junkyard in any city. GM made those in one, 2, 3 and 4 wire versions all the way up to 8 or 10 wires per plug depending......

I would solder and shrink wrap all of the splices. Since that area underneath the front valance panel could be splashed in water when driving

My repop harness from M&H does have the correct wires, connectors and boots for both the parking and cornering lights.

There appears to be a description problem with this. The additional bulb is not a cornering light. It's an early version of the front side marker light. After Pontiac discovered the regular parking light would be sufficient as a parking AND side marker light, the second bulb was dropped with its associated wiring.
Pontiac and Lemans/GTO models did have a cornering light but it's a larger white light mounted into the fender above the valance.

You don't need to drill out the dimples. The ground pin that comes through that round hole has a little foot that snaps in over that dimple and holds it in. To get these apart you first tap that pin out then you can get the plastic piece out with some light tapping.

Ed, I agree with you. Thanks for clarifying.

These are supposedly early 68 parking lamp housing that have 2 bulbs in each, not cornering lights. I think after looking back, both bulbs, 1157A and smaller 1893 (same size as rear side marker) were probably amber colored.

Ok, you are talking about the small single prong connector, not the large three prong black one. My bad. For these flat blade prongs, I know that on the large black plastic pieces they just pull out with a small pliers. The small single blade looks like the same thing.

Yes, had them plated about 15 years ago with a whole bunch of parts. The place that did it, at the time was owned by a car guy & he enjoyed helping guys out in the hobby. He has retired & the new owners really don't want anything to do with small parts. Sooooo, I am looking for somebody myself. Have a few things I need plated again.

I want to say I paid around $150 per container. But it was how ever much stuff I could fit in a large 60 qt tupperware storage container. was a pretty good deal I thought.

Yep, I'd pay that in a heartbeat for a bucket of parts.

I'd love find a place I could send a batch of test parts.

right now i have just a couple things that would fit in a small coffee can. Can't seem to find anyone to take care of them for me. Was thinking there would be some smaller shops around, but with the chemicals involved & epa requirements, I supposed not

Was digging thorough my box of parts I am not using. Have another set of 68 housings I had plated, but they were lightly pitted so didn't turn out the best. looks more like gold paint than yellow cad. They also have the black plastic connector bases without the ground pin. And, cracking like yours. It looks like the white bases might be holding up better, but thats just a theory at this point.

If you can use any of the parts from the extra set I have let me know, I can sent picts.
