I know its not main stream, but how about a 66 Lemans Sprint, with factory A/C, Reclining Pass Bucket seat, with head rests, tinted glass, 2 speaker AM radio, & Automatic. Added incorrect 67 Rally II's (hub cap car) Aftermarket 6 cylinder tach, and hazzard light switch, & duel master cylinder (after one of the original front brake hosed burst!!!!)

My first 66 GTO had the shoulder belts up over the doors. The attachment points were where the map lights would be. The catalogs show the clips that held them up along the top of the door, but show them for the 68-72. But they show 4 clips for 68-72, my 66 only had one on each side. So you had 2 separate belts for seat and shoulder, and 2 latch belts next to the console fastened with one bolt. Anyone else have this option installed?

I sure wish I'd taken pictures of that car's interior. (We need a kick my a** smilie). The strange thing with that car too was the wood grain vinyl on the console top where the black paint normally is on all the others.... between the chrome strips too. I can only think that someone must have added it to match the wood dash. I even had the rear defroster in the package tray with one rear speaker (semi stereo LOL).

Here is my friend Rick Holladay's old 65' Drag car.
It was ordered with several deleted items and factory painted Chevy Forrest Green.
He also stated that he had the car ordered stripped of all seam seal &/or sound padding.
He bought it for one purpose only

http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_de...D=SC0509-79418

She just sold again for $152.500.

Hey Saltman,
I'm not sure what the factory used in 67 but when I bought the car it had rubber caps clamped to the water pump and at the Rt cyl head location to block off the heater hose connections.

I found that Advanced Auto ( and have seen then at Auto Zone) carries a "Bypass Kit" which consists of several different sizes of rubber caps. They are usually located in the section that carries Fix-it parts such as door window cranks, master cyl gaskets, grommets, etc. They are not re-inforced so I check them often for bulging and cracking and replace them frequently.

I usually carry an extra set in the center console "just in case" one decides to go south on me.

You can see the cap on the attached pic at the water pump housing. The same is at the cyl head.

Wayne, Thanks for the info. Bought mine from the second owner who got it from his brother who was stationed there. Who knows maybe our cars crossed paths there. All I know it sure is a long way for a couple Pontiac's to travel to be owned by two Southerners. And the tip on the caps, will put them in the console next to my "just in case" points & condenser.By the way engine looks great love those pancake air cleaners. Thanks again Saltman

So it was black with texture in lieu of wood grain? The only ones I have seen are wood grain. I would kill for one of those for my 67 Tempest drag car, already have the radio delete in black texture.

Since the original thread was 66-67.I have a NOS Compass for 67.One year design only.Mounts under the dash. Also,a NOS Spare Tire Locking Set-66-67 option-dealer.Although,62-67 it was available. Not the Corvette lock which some guys use. Both are rare options. bigpop Larry B.

Saltman,

Seems like that was the way to go if ordering a car in Hawaii....who needs a heater!!

Before you proceed with returning your 65 to original heater delete condition, you may want to check on availability of the heater delete plate. I don't believe that any aftermarket company reproduces them any longer.

You do have the option of fabricating one.

Wayne, Don't need a heater down here to often but wish it had A/C. Ames has a block off kit for the engine compartment. Dont know accurate it is. But have never seen a heater delete in person. So who knows.Think I can fabricate a dash panel for it.But it is an odd option saved 73.00 bucks according to the PHS on my car. Thanks Saltman

There's a small problem with your option count. TH400 included the console. A column shifted auto would therefor be a "delete". Soft-Ray glass (all windows) was standard with A/C.

Even though you didn't mention headrests, they're a perfect example. The reclining seat came with headrests, but you cannot count it as two options even if it clearly trumps the "lesser" option.

Nice option list though...

I think not on the soft ray on all glass.
Have a factory a/c post car with only a tinted shaded windshield.
I see if I can dig up the info on a 66 Sprint that was a zone promo car.
I believe it had more that 30 options.

As I recall, the tint that came standard on a A/C car is the narrow, dark tint along the upper edge of the front glass. If you wanted that on a non A/C car, you had to pay for it.
I had a low option '74 T/A, non AC car. It was the only car I've ever owned that did not have that tint at the top of the glass. That's when I learned about the optional upper tint.

At least in 66 Only the windshield came tinted with A/C, the side and back glass was extra, I have a 67 Sprint Lemans that has clear glass, that is the only car I have ever owned without tinted glass.
