NOS fenders will have the letters AP stamped in them instead of a date code. I assume AP stands for after production?

You used a mile of blue tape on the quarters with the old paint job at the drag races - now you're going to need a wholesale tape supplier when you go back to the track.

Unfortunately, I had an outside seam split on my drivers seat recently. Since the car has its original interior, I am really going back and forth on replacing the whole interior or just leaving it the way it is. Seats are not faded, which is amazing for a 66 Convertible. I have heard that the Legendary Interiors are the best out there, but have not seen their product in person. How close is it to the original Morrokide interior? Are the lines as deep as the original etc? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks... Jim

Jim, even sight unseen, go with Legendary. You won't be disappointed. PUI's are crap.... I have a set of bucket seat covers from them in my GTO and I hate them.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, I have seen way too much PUI junk to ever consider that stuff, but I have read good things about and have seen pictures of Legendary stuff but haven't seen any in person to see how the product matches the original Morrokide covers. The seam tear on my driver seat is next to the door and noticable mostly to me, so I can wait I guess until I can look at the Legendary product.

Resto update........
My painter has two paint booths which allowed for painting the body in one booth and the doors/lids in the other, all from the same batch of paint . A very small amount of pearl was added to the Marina Turquoise color in order to reduce the metallic flake that was apparent in the paint, as delivered from Ditzler. While the car is apart I had the bumpers straightened and chromed, stainless trim polished, and the wheeltubs/core support/small underhood parts powder coated.
The new Legendary interior waits for the owner to install it when the Goat returns from the body/paint shop . The new paint was "cut and rubbed" (wet sanded and polished) on Sunday and it is sweeet! I am glad now that I opted to paint it the original color instead of "resale red" or another bold color. Les

I see in picture five where you are storing the interior - your better half is truly your better half for letting you get away with that.
Paint looks excellent. We're going to need sun glasses to cut the glare when you pull up.

Better half IS a good sport.......
Thanks, Mick . You are right about Sharren's support on this project, in fact she insisted that I do it now before the terrible SoCal winter rains .

Aren't spare bedrooms meant for car part storage?

Missed your questions in post #23..........

Sorry, I missed the above questions: I had a chance to directly compare the PUI & Legendary bucket seat covers while attending the POCI Covention in Dayton OH this summer. The Legendary piece has deeper stamped pleats, thicker foam backing, and the vinyl finish/texture appears identical to my original covers. Les

Jim, take the seat to an upholstery shop and see if they can repair the rip before getting a replacement. They might suprise you and save you some money.
