My friends' 1970 GTO Judge was built in Pontiac and has a 1970 CAR BUILDING ORDER. At the bottom of this paper is the words MEMO 2 16 BLD LESS STRIPES. Anyone know what this means or would refer to? It has evidence of two different stripe colors, but currently has none. It is an Atoll Blue/automatic and the original owner has been contacted, with no response yet.

Is there anyway possible to get a fax or photocopy of that??? I'll have to dig through my materials but that is strange. I do not know if you could order the Judge less stripes.
If at all possible, I'd like to see it. I've got a friend who is an avid 70 GTO info collector, I'd like to present that material to him and see what he might have in his notes. Please email me at jrotella@cox.net if you could send that. Is it a full 8.5"x11"? |

Rocky, the sheet is an 8" wide (with holes on left side) by 7-1/4" long. I will see if I can get it scanned. My friend is thinking that if you wanted a body color with a different stripe combo, that might have been the way to do it.

Yeah, if you could get a copy, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure Judges were offered without stripes. I'd like to look at it and then check my info. I have a pretty substancial amount of factory literature but it's thin for 1970 when compared to all the other stuff I have. Maybe I might have something but I know the other guy might.
Is it possible to make a copy and fax it over? Sometimes scanned printouts are tough to decipher. |

Rocky, you have a picture. Let me know if you need a better shot.

I see it very clear. That's definitely strange. Did he happen to send off for PHS documentation for that car? I'll see what the other guy has to say but I don't know what to say. I went through the dealer album and did not see any reference to a stripe delete code. I was thinking UPC 216 might be something. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
BTW, thanks for that picture! |

Rocky, yes he has PHS on the car. Not one mention about a stripe delete, not even on what is left of the original window sticker. And I don't know of any sales code 216 (and as you can see in the picture there is a space between 2 and 16, suggesting a date).

Spoke with Pete Mac today and he said that he would not doubt a Judge without stripes. He said if documentation shows it, it was more than likely built that way!

Mike(Held for Ransom),
I checked the rear seat and both seat backs for the build sheet, no luck I'll check the rear door panels later this week. Anyone else have any suggestions on where to look for the build sheet?

I can check my brother's 70 Orbit Orange Judge Build Sheet, to see if it has a sort of Memo 2 note...his car had stripe colors different from all the rest. YET we know them to be original.

Talked to the lady who bought the car. She bought it for her 16-year old son, who had picked out all the options except the transmission (she insisted on an automatic). I'm waiting to hear from him, someday. Mark, was that car built at the Pontiac plant? 1-GTO, he has already looked there.

I've seen an Orbit Orange Judge with stripes other than what was recommended. I believe they were the black/red/yellow ones.

I will reply intelligently, when I bring the Build Sheet Folder into work tomorrow. I don't recall pastel tri-colors so well. Sorry for the delay.
We got our Judge Build sheet from the Driver lower seat, because the Gas tank Build sheet was water-rotted. Big cars seem to have the best condition buildsheets Reminds me to check the 68GTO project for it's buildsheet. My 71 Judge has the stripes mentioned twice on the build sheet, once in the boxes and listed below in the large text area. Both specify the color. I guess that this meant you could order a judge in other than the recommended stripe colors or none at all.
