There were a lot of green 68 and 69 cars. Way too many.

Avocado Green and Harvest Gold were popular appliance and fixture colors back then too. All that shet is long gone and nobody wants it again ... at least 99.458 %

The top and interior on this Bird look like a wretched mix of Poupon Mustard , Yogurt and Avocado dip ... none for me , thanks. lol

Most green cars had green interiors. I owned a 69 400 4-speed car back in the day, and it was green/green. The green top cars are rare, and if you went green top, logic would dictate you went green inside as well. The tan doesn't look good IMO... not with a green top anyway.

I don't agree with that. White, black, and tan also match green quite well. We don't know the numbers of how many a certain combo were built and I'll give that tan may be one of the rarer choices but from my POV it's not 'interesting' but simply regular.

Nice looking car but the top is either heavily faded or the wrong green. Verdoro green was a very popular color in 68-69 (it was a Pontiac exclusive also) but the gold interior is uncommon with a green car, almost all gold interior cars had gold, champagne or brown paint.

Btw, i think that car would look nicer with a black top or better yet gold or tan but the only convertible top colors in 69 were black, ivory, blue and green.

Attached is a list of colors and numbers for a 1970 Challenger (base, not R/T) so you can see the distribution of paint and interiors. You may see some surprises. For you who don't know how to read their codes, the higher the number on a paint, the darker the color (F8 green is darker than F4).

I don't think GM was any more conservative than Chrysler. You are looking at the High Impact colors, but there's plenty of Earthtones, blues, and reds that are high on the list. And gold is noticeably low on the totem pole.

Meanwhile, for the Firebird, there were only two bright colors, and if you look at the GTO, 20% of Judges were Orbit Orange.

I think green is a popular color in that era but I would hardly suggest "most" were green. I have numbers of numerous cars from the era and there are other colors that are as popular, if not moreso. I realize the Firebird has a certain niche that wouldn't necessarily reflect on GTOs, but here's 1970 GTO numbers:

I think it would be more accurate to say "Earthtones were all the rage and Verdoro Green was a very popular color for Pontiacs of that era."
You would be astounded at the number of Pontiacs of all models, parts cars and pieces from cars I've seen over almost 40 years around these cars that were Verdoro Green, and even back to when I recall neighbors owning these years of Pontiacs when new. Two of my 69 birds were Limelight, and I've had a 69, two 68s and a 67 Firebird that were all Verdoro. Dad had a 69 Bonneville that was Verdoro, I learned to drive in that car and a green 70 Impala.

I'm convinced that Pontiac offering the color over 4 model years suggest that it was supplied to them at a far lesser cost than any other color.

Einstien, Well I do believe that is just a pigment of your imagination.
