can anyone tell me if the 71 455 HO intake was painted or left raw aluminum? I have seen examples of both ways.

Mine was painted when received from the factory in April 1971. I have not seen any '71/72 original unpainted. In '71 Pontiac did away with all chrome and aluminum surfaces on its engines across the board.
