Matt,
Is that motor worth 20K?

Stacy said that according to Jim B. it was worth between 5 to 7k.

Just adding up a few individual parts is way OVER 10k..Maybe that was 15-17 K ...not 5-7K. Anyhow, its sure to make a lot of Pontiac Panties wet.

The bracket that I'm refering to is the one that is bolted to the center two RH intake bolts.
Yea my Pontiac panties are dripping and I too would love to put it in my non-numbers matching 1969 TA and I'd go $7k in a heart beat. Very nice find indeed.

Don't let anyone BS you about the value of that engine.
I think the follwing prices are very fair/borderline cheap prices for your RAIV parts. The true value for your engine will be higher than the sum. Carb 7029273 $4000 (yes $4000 no BS) Heads $2500+ Block $1500+ Distributor $500+ Intake $750+ Exhaust Manifolds $750+ Internals (crank, rods, pistons) $500+ RAIV Head Bolts $300 The rest (ie pullies, pan, brackets, solenoid, windage tray, etc.) $600+ So you're talking at least $11,400.00 with just these items.

It appears that the only purpose of this bracket is for this screw to have something to attach to. |

Hmm.. I never knew it bolted to that bracket. Cool!! The engine even has the impossible to find 9099 bi-metallic choke pull off. Sweet!!

I have a question maybe some of you Ram Air IV guys can answer. This looks like a very original engine, but shouldn't there be a stud on the head bolt at the left front side? (This is the long head bolt by the exhaust port of cylinder #1.) And, the short head bolt between cylinders #2 and #4 has a stud, but I don't think it should? Anyone know the answer? Quote:

Kind of sad that the donor car is likely gone. Think of that engine as a heart awaiting transplant.

Greg, I have already been offered more. And besides, by friend Russ says it would look great in his '77 Y81 Special Edition TA! |

it would have to look better in anything than the wagon it came out of.what is the offer that has to be beat?

I thought it was pretty cool seeing a Ram Air IV powered '63 Cat.But i'm also a "REAL PONTIAC" person not one who only likes GTO's and Trans Am's,i like them all.

Greg, thanks for your interest in this engine. There have been a couple of very generous offers but at this time it is not for sale. However given the current economic situation I may regret holding onto it. |

It's a rare piece so I'm confident that it will hold it's value regardless of the economy.
Personally, I'd like to see it end up back in a real 1969 TA, RAIV bird or GTO but that's just me. As for the 77 TA, I think a nicely built 455 would be just the ticket.

There is only one Big Kahuna per village.
don`t sell it if you can afford to hang on to it. I would throw it on a stand and leave it in the garage, just to look at it.

The pictures of the rocker/long nut/short nut/lock nut/oil deflectors are neat to see. Most people have probably never seen the stock valve train in a RAIV.

I agree with your statement. I also think it's neat that you can still see paint markings on some of the components. The motor appears fairly clean inside and I am curious to see what the bottom end looks like. However I am going to resist the urge to pull the pan to see all the goodies. |

The last picture of the valve train from the side is an education. At one time I had the long nuts, lock nuts and oil splash shields new in the GM wrapper. I purchased them from P.J. Heck I believe out of Hemmings before I had ever heard of the internet. I should have purchase all he had.................................I have no idea why I can remember his name.
sorry for rambling. And how much do you want for that engine?
