Big Moe, did you get a chance to take anymore pics of the car (you mentioned that you only had your cell phone pics earlier).
Also, does the current 400 engine match the VIN?

Do you have a better cowl Tag pic?
What's the tag date? (10E?) Also what is the 'H-Code'? (letter and 3 numbers towards bottom) The body tag number seems a littler high for the 'build date'

The front fender extractors have been on the car for at least twenty years. They were switched from the old fenders to the new fenders. Before the car was painted.

Silver 1969 trans am
The engine came out of a 1966 or 1967 GTO I'm told and doesn't match the Vin. Got the June issue of Motor Trend yesterday with the Silver car in it.It was a article written by Eric Dahlquest a well know writer of Peterson publications.I did some diggin and called him yesterday to ask about the car.He remebered the car & piece he did and was going to dig in his achrives for more info or pics. Also he knows George Stephens whos name was on the build sheet.George was the Assistant Public relations director for Pontiac and is now retired.Mr Dahlquest directed me to the retired GM employee website to try to cntact him.Thats next.It was great talking to Mr Dahlquest and listening to his stories,he roadtested and wrote on just about every hotrod, sportscar that was on the road in the 60's & 70's with some great stories about the "backdoor"deals on these prototype cars built by GM,Ford & Chrysler.I will attach the Motor Trend article.

huh!! About 10 years ago I spoke to a gentleman who had a 69 TA for sale in Hemmings, I believe. He was from either from N. Carolina or Georgia and stated it may not be a real TA because he found the paint chipping of on door jambs etc with silver paint underneath it. Needed some work done but he did not have PHS on it either at the time. I told him to research it through PHS. He seemed like an honest guy and was not trying to decieve me on the car in any way and asked him to get PHS on it and contact me. He never returned my call with PHS but who knows.

It also went through eBay - several years ago - in bad rusty condition. I'd start taking the interior apart, and dropping the gas tank, on this Silver Car - - to hunt for a buildsheet. |
