The T/A is loaded and ready to roll in the a.m. Let's hope the weather does not dampen (get it?) our spirits

Default Silver T/A

Wow... What a treat to spend the day with legends. Rick Titus was full of great stories as was Gene Winfield. I thought I knew a lot about T/A's. I was humbled. Great weather but a bit windy for sure. But no rain! I was a little worried the night before. I would like to thank Tom S. for suggesting my car for the shoot. Also a thanks goes out to Curt for finding this important piece of history and allowing me to play a small part in the story of documenting the rebirth of this unique car. The production crew was very easy to work with and Steve Cox did a fantastic job of interviewing. He did his homework. Looking forward to the finished product. Till then, please keep us posted Curt. BTW, John Angeles had a blast!

WOW is right... Doug said it and I agree what a EPIC day. Rick was so good sharing his stories about the Silver car and his dads life and his career as a superstar racer. Gene Winfield well he brought the Original charcoal drawings of the Trans Am that he presented to John DeLorean in the PMD board room. Seriously!!!! He told the story of installing the parts and painting them in the PMD engineering shop and how John D liked the car. Just so thankful to these man for this piece of Pontiac history

Well here are some of the latest...The Peterson Museum shoot was Awesome!! Gene Winfield and Rick Titus shared amazing pieces of history about the Silver Trans Am for the camera crew and me for the doucumentary. Rick told about his dad buying the Silver TA with 5 other cars from Royal Pontiac and when he and his dad went to pick the Silver car up it had been put away wrecked in the left front and they had to go get a trailer to take it home. Also about how it ended up being traded at Morrie Sage Datsun for a 510 and ending up on the used car lot. Gene Winfield came with his original charcoal pencil drawing he presented to PMD and John Delorean. He talked about how PMD approved his sketches and he made the clay moldes and created the 1st Trans Am in the engineering dept. We captured history! Doug Van Affelen brought his beautiful 1969 TA as part of the interview picture. Just great! We shot about 2 hours of film on the rooftop of the Peterson that day. Since then the car is now at Scott Tieman's Supercar Specialties in Portland Mich. undergoing the full resto by him and his crew. The film crew was on hand to do a interview with Scott for the piece this weekend as I delivered the car to him. I am excited to be moving forward with Scott on board. Her are some pics...Gene,Rick and me. Check the drawings"Can Am"

"mystery screw" Can anyone tell me if they have seen this or have it on their car. The Silver car PHS shows code#671 lamp-ur/hood which is the under hood light and I believe that is the ground location. If you look closely in the HPP article under hood picture you see the screw in silver\shiney form and something attached to it. When I got the Silver car it had the attached screw and wire eyelites but no wires.

Can't believe I just saw the rest of this story now, guess I don't get over here enough. This car is incredible and the story and documentation is icing on the cake!

Im just so impressed with all this info on the car and how well its being presented. Really great work putting this all together.

Thank you for sharing it here.

Thought I would share the latest update happenings. Scott and the Supercar Specialties crew are hard at work with the car with completion hopeful for summer/fall. The unveiling is set for the Nov. MCCN. I can't wait to show it off to everyone! The September High Performance Pontiac's feature "Transcendent American Supercar" featured this car in part 3 about the Trans Am prototypes. The coolest thing was the archive GM photos that show the Silver TA on track at Riverside Raceway. Prior to these photos all I had was the stories told me by Steve Kelly(Hot Rod magazine writer) about the car being at the track for the press intro. That event was organized by Pontiac's PR assistant director George Stevens and Jim Wangers prior to the release of "The Judge" and "Trans Am". One of the significant photos had a left side under hood shot of the trim tag. Just one more piece of the puzzle of this PMD Supercar.
Also came across these 2 articles both from October 1969 and they featured the Trans Am 303. A couple of interesting things, the Oct.1969 Hi Performance Cars article shows the TA with a lic. plate GM-2958 interestingly the Sept. 2013 HPP feature part 3 with the Silver car and the White\Blue TA a close look shows the same plate. Wonder if they let the press see the comparision between RA IV and 303? The other thing I noticed was the left rear view of the Cars piece shows "Trans Am" on the left rear quarter. Never seen that before. That TA was a 303 with 4.33 gears!!

Interesting that the 303 (?) engine photo shows a closed face alternator.

if I am not mistaken, I think the early dealer info letter stated that part of the trans am package included rear quarter "trans am " call outs.
