I'm not sure how close to factory this green is, but the original color was a dark green (I forget the name off hand, a picture I have of the data plate says color 57).

A walk around of the car right after I washed it.

Code 57 is Midnight Green Metalic - a great color.

rtanner - what color is the interior? Parchment?

This was the original color of one of mine when new, midnight green, white top and green interior. This isn't my car but one I found like it to go by

I can't post a pic but white (maybe Ford oxford white) stripes outlined with a small black one on Verdoro green with a parchment and black interior would be killer. It would tie both the interior and exterior together.

Although a GTO picture/info sight, you can see examples of colors by year here.

I know you said you didn't want verdoro green, but here it is in modern base clear coat form for reference.

I agree with Muscle Collector, The Chevrolet Rally Green is a killer color. The I Dream of Jeannie Firebird was most likely Rally Green. You can find it on YouTube. I am currently restoring a 69 Camaro RS/SS Convertible back to its original Rally Green. It definitely makes a statement. I did not know that it was available on Firebirds. I would love to see one. Anybody got any pics of one? I know the IDOJ Firebird was originally customized by Barris Custom City and was probably a custom mixed Candy color.

Rally Green wasn't a factory color on the 1969 Firebird. I'm sure you could special order it, but there were only three greens available as a RPO on the 69 Bird; Midnight Green, Limelight Green, and Verdoro Green.

Of those three, I would opt for Midnight Green.

Limelight Green (shown below) would look ok too with a white Royal Bobcat scheme inset.

Greens and browns on sporty cars just don't do it for me personally.

I know it's darker, but just for a reference point here are white stripes on my midnight green car, I bought the car like this and if I repaint, I will do the midnight Green again but with a silver or charcoal accent.

This dark a green and white are too much of a contrast, JMHO.

thesilverbuick - that's a nice looking 400. Midnight green is a great color. It looks great with the hood tach too.

Just for reference, here's the Midnight Green 1969 Firebird RAIV 4-speed ragtop that was just restored by Level One Restoration.
