Default The 8th 1969 Trans Am convertible has been found

Yes, the coveted 8th 1969 Trans Am ragtop, rumored to be anywhere from being in an igloo somewhere in Canada to having been destroyed in an unfortunate smelting accident (says Dr. Evil), has been found. It's been documented, and is currently under restoration by Scott Tiemann. The 8th one is equipped with a blue convertible top, blue interior (standard), and a 4-speed trans.

So now all 8 of these rare Birds are accounted for.

I'm proud to say I completed the window sticker for this long lost 8th Trans Am ragtop a couple weeks ago.

Mike

John, yes, it's the one delivered to Canada, 223679N105354. The car was bought out of a salvage yard in Canada in the mid-1990's, and has been in Michigan since. It's in the hands of a true Pontiac enthusiast, and is being restored by Scott Tiemann.

I believe The Brothers own five of the convertibles, Rob Lozins owns one, and the ex-Tom Goad triple white one is crossing the Mecum Auction block in a couple months. With the 8th one now found, that accounts for all of them. Amazing they all survived!

Mike

I was talking with Pete Mccarthy at Norwalk in about 1997 or 98 & he assured me then that they had found the 8th car in the Vancouver Canada area. I remember it well, because I was on what turned out to be a wild goose chase of my own. I had received a tip about a car in Indiana which seemed believable, but after finding the car it obviously wasn't it.

I guess that makes the other seven a little less valuable...

I actually have a picture of the "unknown" car that the original (or he said he was) owner sent me back in the mid to late 80's it was in his garage and he also included a copy of the registration or some paperwork (cant remember exactly what it was now) showing his Canada address. he told me he still owned it and never would sell it, but I guess he was not telling the truth and probably trying to locate it.

It's about time this news got wide release. That circle in Michigan has been leaking this like Chinese water torture for years!

From what I understand if you were ever in attendance at one of Jim's Christmas parties, you likely met the owner.

The Brothers own 4, Wade O from Ca. owns my old one. The triple white one and Lozen's are both coming up for auction at Mecum Kissimmee. All found so the fakers will need something else to do.

Amazing what you can find when you have inside info/access to PMD records.

Not sure what inside info was needed. The vins for all eight cars have been out there for quite awhile.

Yes they've been known for almost 30 years and I didn't need inside info to find all of them
