Front Disc to drum, Spindles the same ????
I am looking to convert to front disc brakes but really don't want to change the spindles.
Are there any differences in the front stock drum spindles and stock disc spindles ????

On a 67, the upper boss is thicker on the drum brake spindles by about 3/4". You'd have to mill it down by that much to accommodate either the four piston and single piston caliper plates.

OUr host sells conversions that work with drum spindles; you need 15" disc rims.

Baer Brakes makes a kit that uses the stock drum spindle. Just installed last weekend on my 66. You do have to drill-out the two lower holes to 1/2” if yours are 7/16”, or reuse the stock bolts along with a bushing in the bracket. This caliper bracket in the kit does not utilize the top mount, so no need to mill it down.

The kit you show is for GM A/F/X bodys, not full size Pontiac.
Baer does not make a kit for pre 71 "B"s, other than Chevrolet. Last edited by Scarebird; 09-08-2023 at 12:20 PM. |

Does the OP have a B-body? If so, I’m mistaken , but I’m not seeing any reference to that.
