Question 05 Jaguar X-Type??

A friend called trying to get a value on her moms car that she no longer drives. Very clean, mom bought it new, 34K miles, garage kept, it's a 3.0 AWD with all the bells and whistles. I told her 8K to 10K depending on how quick they wanted to sell it. She called back, told me it wouldn't start. Dad had it towed to the dealer, was told it was low on coolant and needed a fuel pump. Guy at the dealership says he has a friend that will give them 3K for it. Looks like a fuel pump job is a real pain in the ass! I'm trying to decide if I want it or not for the 3K.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. My first thought is run like hell but it's an exceptionally clean car!

Thanks, Colt

$3K is kind of a no-brainer. If the car doesn't get driven often, my money is that the battery died. Jump start that sucker and let 'er rip.

Looks like they run from 3k-9k depending on mileage. Of course the dealer has a buyer for 3k, he can put in the fuel pump at cost and list it for 7k or 8k make a nice turn around. You almost cant go wrong. I thought they were a ford based drive train but I dont know how that translates to future service cost. For 3k or so if you can get a couple of years out of it that would be good. I would be a buyer in the 4k range!
