The OHC 6 engine that Jack referenced was a little later, dubbed the Tornado 6. I had one in a 65 Wagoneer. In 1969 I worked in a Jeep dealership, those engines were famous for blown head gaskets. Also the plate behind the cam drive was also where the motor mounts connected, from constant flex the plate would start leaking oil. That engine came in the Jeep standard pickup trucks and the Wagoneer only.

The chassis for the FC series is a CJ chassis with the steering and cab controls moved forward, where the name originates from.

Side note, the factory offered the FC series in a 1 ton configuration with dual rear wheel and axles from the one ton Jeep truck under them. They also had single rear wheel 3/4 ton trucks too. Even being of pre-drivers license age when they were being manufactured and sold I have only seen pictures of the dual rear wheel one ton FCs, I have only seen single rear wheel examples in person.

Here's a group on Facebook for FC and another site dedicated to FC Jeeps.

Nice find!

When I was a kid up North in Massena, NY, my step dad worked for a trucking company. I'd ride with him in one plowing their yard with in the winter months, and our driveway at home. I've always wanted one but they are a bit hard to find that are restored, or even drivable. I've only seen one since then, and it was rusted out and not drivable at all.

When I was a kid my Dad's work had one that was red and was used to plow the yard.

My dad had the corvair version that My442 mentioned. It had a tail gate on the rear and on the passenger side of the truck. The only reason I remember it is because we used it to take my grandfather's horse to the vet one time in it. That was way before seat belts and we just drove very slowly. The corvair version was probably one of those things that was a good idea but poorly executed.

Corvair was called a Rampside.

I had a 64 Jeep with that Overhead cam engine and it had tons of torque at low rpm. Great for snow plowing. Just remove your foot off the clutch and step on the gas. Moved a lot of snow with it. It was single overhead cam engine hemi. The head was huge and instructions were to use a engine hoist to remove it.

Default Used to drive one.

In the early 70s I went back to work at the Texaco gas station I had worked at during high school. I was an electrical apprentice and needed the extra money. So a few evenings a week and weekends I worked there, plus my day job. The new owner of the station had one of those odd ball Jeeps for a tow vehicle. It had a rubber push bumper and kind of a home made tow rig on the back. I never felt safe sitting right in front like that.
Jay Leno featured one of these on his show. Even unrestored these thing have some value. To who I don't know.

That's a ford Econoline pick up, not a Jeep FC.

Econoline pickups could easily do stoppies- especially with three people in the seat.
