This ^. Except on my 66 I intend to run Torque Thrust D's that I never could on my first one

I've always been of fan of the rally wheels, I love mine. My first 66 Gto had ll's on it. I had a few 67 Vettes afterwards with rally wheels and l was sold on them but the Gto rallys are even nicer with the dark highlighting center cap and the extra slot. (I think)..

Like you, I also have a 67 Corvette that came with DG coded Rally wheels (first year). My 67 GTO was equipped with Rally 1 wheels (third year), and that is what both will be using. My first choice in the aftermarket would be Torq Thrust wheels for both cars.

For pure looks I'm swayed slightly in favor of the Rally II's, but for the wow factor I definitely would go with Rally I's. Just so many II's from so many years out there that it is refreshing to see the I's.

Just a heads up for anyone considering rally I's in 15 inch, I have a set of the Wheel Vintiques 15x7 and 15x8 Rally 1's, and have not been able to get a set of trim rings for them for a year now. No ETA, and from what i have been able to find, no other trim ring except for theirs which is specific to their Chrysler wheel and the Rally 1 will fit.

My preference for GTOs...

1967 and earlier = Rally I
1968 and later = Rally II

I think Rally I’s on a ‘68 look really awesome. I got a smoking deal on 6 month old 17” YO Rally II’S, lug nuts and Nitto tires (at the price i paid anyone would have bought them). I think they look great too but would have pursued a set of Vintique Rally I’s otherwise

'68 was the last year.

I believe you are correct.

The Corvette rally came out in '66.

Technically correct. It was introduced on the '67 Corvette that was released in late '66.

These wheels were optional on the 65 Mustang.

I would not call that a rally wheel.

To me a rally is a styled steel wheel with a center cap and trim ring.

I was thinking as an example of a factory styled wheel. Before the advent of the Rally wheel or other types of 'Sport' wheels I don't recall anything other than steel wheels with hubcaps or wire wheels on Postwar vehicles. I guess I meandered off the beaten path again.

This is one of my all time favorite GTO color combos. It grew on me after having a '68 the
in the same livery. Nice!

Rally 1s look great on a '65 if they are in the correct original color which was silver with a little amber toner in it.
