Good exhaust kit
I am going to put headers and replace exhaust on my 67, what exhaust kit do you recommend? I plan on Doug's headers then want 3" exhaust. Any recommendations?

I have the Pypes 2.5" system on my 67 and have not had any problems with it.

Not me but my brother has Dougs Headers also. He ended up getting the 3" Magnaflow 15898 exhaust kit from 4wheelonline. The sound is really nice. imho

Used Magnaflow Welded for years with 2.5 Pypes X-Pipe, and always liked the sound, fit, etc. The Pypes needed some modification for fit but not a drama. Used Hedman 4-tube and Doug's (very surprisingly the Hedmans fit better. I had to massage the heck out of the Dougs on the passenger side and ended up going back to Hedman). Currently using Borla ProXS 40352 and Vibrant resonators pn 1793 behind Hedman Shorties 4-tube pn 26164, still with same Pypes x-Over. Very happy with the current set-up as well. Did the change for lowering clearance. I was concerned about performance loss going to the shorties but clearance was more important. I don’t feel any seat of the pants difference, but I don’t to the 8,000 rpm thing lol. The sound is excellent but different from the Magnaflow. 1976 Trans Am.

Pipes 3" gets a lot of good reviews from people I know. I have a RARE system which I like but it took a lot of cutting.

I think I will go with Pypes 3", got both stock exhaust manifolds loose but unsure how to remove car, do I need to loosen engine mounts and lift engine?

I don’t think you should have to lift the engine? Maybe try different angles?

rcush...you should check out the episode of "engine masters" where they tested different size exhaust...2.5 and 3. The end result was unless you're making more than say 600hp the 2.5 isn't hurting anything, and it fits easier and it's less expensive.
