Default Narrow oil filter

Does someone make a narrower oil filter to fit when trying to remove and fit through headers? I have the angled adapter but there’s no way to get the filter out. It’s that or a remote filter.
Thank you.

Mine was a problem with the width. Wouldn’t fit. Close but just too wide. I’ll have to try. Thank you Tom.

I used a K&N HP-2006. Originally bought a HP-2003 but it was way too wide.

Not sure how it compares in size to others but the NAPA 1045 is 4.828" long and 2.921" dia.

This might be of interest....

The B39 is the short one.Not sure I'm a fan of the little skinny one.Maybe use it with addition of a bypass system.Tom

Years ago we searched through the books of a local auto parts store, a 307 oldsmobile was what we found that was smaller in diameter. I used it for years but now I'm using the K&N HP 2006 as mentioned above, it's close to the same size.

When you say bypass system, do you mean the bypass in the adapter?

Tom, with a by pass system you can leave it on there for 30,000 miles or 3-4 years...…………..

I just commented because you brought it up, there's plenty of info on the web if anyone wants to educate themselves about by pass filtration.

Here's a schematic of how the oil flows:

They call it by pass filtration because the filter has a separate loop (a by pass loop) that is dedicated only to filtering the oil to a very high standard about 30-40 times finer filtering than your run of the mill spin on filter does.

Read this if you're interested, https://www.machinerylubrication.com...ass-filtration

If you want more info, google by pass oil filtration.

I have it on all my road vehicles since 2011, so I have a fairly long history with it, does what it says it does and extends oil life to 30-40,000 miles, because the oil stays just as clean as when it was first poured into the engine.

If your spending upwards of $10 a quart for top shelf oil, it gets expensive tossing it out just because the standard oil filter allows the oil to get dirty. At the point it's dirty, draining it out is the only way to keep the dirty oil from wearing internal parts. That's the way we all were taught, but keeping the oil clean lets you safely keep using it much longer. Payback is within a few years, reduced engine wear is a no cost bonus.

I'm going to just let all this sink in ,and if you like the idea, just keep looking at the info online.

Well after reading about a bypass system, wouldn’t I be just as well going with a remote system since I’d be running lines and putting basically a remote system anyway if I went with a skinny filter?

Well where do you pick the oil up before the bypass and where does it return?

Oil pressure sender tee fitting, oil fill cap is modified so it just goes back in the valve cover/oil fill tube on my 6.5 diesel.

Takes about 1 minute for 1 quart to flow through the filter, it's restricted by a 1/8th inch restrictor.

I didn't mention that the by pass system filters oil so well there is no need to keep changing your standard oil filter, it never has dirt to filter. Years ago the by pass companies just deleted the standard filter because it really isn't even needed. Now they just leave it in place to default in case the owner is completely neglectful of servicing the by pass system, it just defaults to the OEM filter at that point.
