As the title says , what do you think is a fair price for this GTO?

Cant upload an extra picture but the undercarriage is clean. North east car.

Thank you

I'll chime in. Provided it's a legit 242 car and it runs/drives, I would say around $13,000-$15,000. Bench seat and column might knock it down a little.

Check the FRAME right above, and slightly Behind the rear tires. Probably needs trunk too. Get magnet and eyeballs on it.

Please don’t take this as any disrespect. as we all know 5 years ago that would’ve been $4500 car and in my opinion I would keep looking for another one. Especially if it’s over $15,000 mark. I would be super careful about how much Bondo is underneath the blue paint. Northeast cars are unfortunately the worst cars in the country. Me being from N.E. have almost never found a car that was real clean even if it was only stored in a garage and rarely driven just the humidity let alone the salt will destroy every N.E. car. get one of those Bondo detecting magnets before you buy it. Lift up the carpet make sure it’s not soft also inside the trunk. I found that going out west is worth the trip even if a car is a little bit more money cost you a lot less in the end to make it nice. Sorry I’m a Debbie downer. If it was still wearing its original paint then there would be no stories but I’ve seen too many cars come in here that were patched with newspaper and Bondo and folks who bought the cars are in tears when I showed them the truth.

My fault, northwest car!! Washington state

Guy is asking 10k and it’ll be another 1k to get it shipped over. I don’t know if it runs or drives because he doesn’t have the keys; was an abandoned car for which he just got it registered and titled in his name.

Is a 1968 (specifically) GTO your dream car?

As far as investment/resale goes, IMO:

1968? Strike one
Bench seat? Strike two
Console Automatic? Strike three

Colors and endura a plus.

If spending $10k+ on a project like this (I would not unless this is indeed your dream car), you might think about perhaps spending a few thousand more and get something more worthy of the many additional thousands you will certainly be spending down the line.

10k is a decent deal if you could hear it run. Might be worth a couple bucks to swap out the ignition so you can fire it up..

An eastern WA car can be a different animal than a coastal WA or west of Cascades car, rust-wise. Spokane vehicles can be pretty decent. Cars from the west side can be bad rust if left outside much. As typical, time outside is a factor.

I think it looks fairly complete and you will have to look for rust in person as others have said.

Without trying to upset anyone, asking what it is worth to those on this site vs what it will bring are the market are two very different questions. A lot of that is due to the knowledge in this site (knowing if it’s rare, what to look for, how much it costs to fix certain things, etc). I think on eBay this car is probably going for 10k, 15 if it runs.

No, a 68’ GTO is not my dream car. I very much want a 69. I just can’t get past vent windows. Anyway, the first thing that crossed my mind when seeing this car for 10k was wow I can flip this for 14k easily. Just lookin to make a quick buck, that’s all.

If it doesn't start and move on its own power I would pass. Two years ago I purchased a '68 GTO for $9,000 that did have bucket seats console, AC, and was a Southern California car that sat outside for 11 years. We got it started and drove it around the back yard before buying. Thought I was going to make a killing, and after six months finally got an offer high enough where I broke even.

This statement says a lot. If you are looking to make a quick 3k on this car good luck. Chances are the current seller got it for 8k and is looking to make a quick 2k on it! I am sure there is a buyer at 14k but how long will you have to sit on it? A story is a story but Its hard to imagine someone would abandon a car like this in todays climate. May have come from an estate?

As far as how much is it worth? What ever someone is willing to pay. Me, I would be in the game if it was 10k or less.

For me a huge factor would be the condition of the body under the paint. Someone has put some work into it, looks like the front bushings were done going by the nice condition of the hardware, control arms either restored or replaced, steering shaft probably restored with what looks like possibly new steering box. Water pump has been replaced recently I think, pulleys look all cleaned up and painted.

Rear bumper is bent, dash has been recovered with something.

So, 68 & 69 GTO owners will hate me.......

Like 69 GTO's no vent windows
Like 68 GTO back tailight / bumper
Like 69 GTO Front turn signal design
Like 68 GTO Grilles

I could build a morphed Sixty Eight and Nine and that most would not approve of.

Got to be a good reason why a "professional flipper" hasn't done scarffed this car up and flipped it.

@TAKerry

Yeah no, he got it for a steal @6k.

I appreciate all the input from everybody. In the long run not really worth the quick 2/3k I was hoping for.

With that being said, if anyone’s got a 69 GTO they’re willing to part with, let me know! Haha

I agree that to flip it for 2-3k it’s probably not worth it.

Now, clean up the wiring, put in a headliner and carpet, take the trash out of it , paint it bright red and sell for 25-30k- that might make sense if you have the capabilities.
