Default Dakota Digital VHX Gauges '69 Firebird

Has anybody installed a set of these in their '69 bezel?

Dakota Digital has a strong reputation, so I'm not worried about functionality etc. My main concern is the tach display. It's sandwiched in the lower right hand corner of the speedo display and appears to be a bit on the small side.

I'd love to get rid of the stupid monster tach I have no, but I still need to be able to accurately read the tachometer.

If you have experience with this gauge setup in a '69 bezel, can you give me an idea about how readable the display is?

Thanks in advance!

Jason,
I have studied the Dakota gauges as well and will be ordering
A set for my 69 Bird. The tach is smallish but I will be installing a small LED shift light somewhere in the dash to rectify that. I don't tend look at the tach much
even when I used to race a mid 7 second in the quarter car. My eyes are looking down track or the road to keep her straight. The Dakota VHX gauges will clean up the interior a lot. I'm removing column tach and three gauges from under radio/ashtray. I have VHX gauges in another car and love them!
The black background gauges have a better blend of the tach. The other colors make the tach appear as a little clock. I have seen them in person.

Hope that helps,
Gary

I've had these for a few years. The size of the tach is a total joke. I just ended up installing a hood tach.

Thread revival!

I’m considering these as well and already have a good tach. Good thing- it’s a shame at their price point they wont custom make the pod - say a vacuum gauge or oil temp gauge instead of a tach as an option.

Default Dash gauges

I personally don't like the tach in the dash, all I need is my speedo and small gauges there. I like Mt tach with shift lite mounted outside. Autometer and Speedhut make some very nice quad gauges for the dash. I will be fabricating my own mounting template to OEM housing.
