Default Bermuda Blue on BaT

Does anyone have any insight or knowledge on the Bermuda Blue Judge that just finished on Bring A Trailer? If so please send me a PM and fill me in. I am interested in finding a Judge but not sure what happened on that auction and why it still didn't meet reserve. Thanks in advance.

I met the folks who owned the car before the current owner put it on BAT. If you do a search on BAT you can see the previous auction that had more detailed pictures. Current owner underestimated cost to get the car back in the states. Even after getting several quotes it turned out more than he expected and was not happy about it. Someone asked a few questions about the pictures referring to some "blemishes". Owner got upset about it. He thought someone was trying to derail the bidding. Long story is the car did not meet reserve and he has decided to keep it. I would not be surprised to see it at Mecum next January. It is a pretty car.

My only insight is the color combo isn't a strong one , and it is Auto without AC.

And several comments were made about "what a deal" he got on it when he bought it on BaT previously.
I think those comments had some negative impact .

Appeared to be a great car with original drivetrain.
Seems like it only bid to around 60k

One of the strong points of the car was the original drivetrain still in place. I like Bermuda Blue and I prefer the Sandalwood to a black interior. I sumrised that the market is softening (typically does this time of year). All the hype from the big auctions is behind us. Things get a little quiet till next January. I think the car needed $78k to cover original purchase, import/transportation expenses, and a little profit. Just my opinion from what I read.

That Judge was my sons car....it was a no excuse car ,numbers matching 48,000 mile all metal Judge ......original floors and quarters. Frame had zero pitting. Had been painted once 20+ years ago and was its only detraction but was still very presentable. Never had a frame of restoration and rode like a new car . It was a nicely optioned car ....hood tach and gauges ,tilt, remote mirror. We thought the BB Sandalwood was its best virtue.

2 other 70 Judges were on BaT right before the Bermuda Auto car.
But they were both 4spd cars.

OrbitO in high driver/regional show quality but unknown if VIN matched drivetrain. So likely Not.
Sold 80k

Red unrestored with around 30k Northern miles. All #'s
Not a priceless time capsule but good overall
No Sale @ 80k

Bermuda Car was nicer than either of those cars.
It just couldn't find 2 guys that really wanted it.

Cars are only original once. The amount of originality on that car appealed to me. I have seen so many "hacked" restorations on these cars where people are only interested in flipping for money.

1970 GTO Judge dressed in Bermuda Blue with Sandalwood is stunning color combo.
