Sorry not Pontiac but 4L60E
Sorry. I know this is a pontiac site but I need some info. I have a 2003 chevy Silverado Z71. The transmission has finally given up (320'000miles so not done bad). I am trying to remove it and I think I have all the bolts out but it wont move. I have taken the 2 bottom bolts out and 2 each side above those, are there any more bolts that I can't see??? Everything else is removed as best as I can see. Thank you.

I think there are a couple behind the intake manifold. Hard to get to. I changed the converter on my 2000. It was a bit of a pain.

If it's a bolt on bellhousing model, there should be 2 near the top of the bellhousing. There should be 8 total bolts.

WHAT ENGINE??? Diesel? Gasoline?
For the record, when I removed the 5.7L TBI engine from my '88 K1500 w/THM700 trans, (6 bellhousing bolts, 3 torque converter bolts) about twenty years ago, I had to jump up and down on the engine to get the seized dowel pins to release from the transmission case. |

Should be the same 6-bolt pattern as a traditional SBC, with one bolt moved to top-center instead of near-top, right side. There may be additional bolts into/near the oil pan, maybe one to the left of the top-center bolt.
I've never had an LS engine/trans apart. Last edited by Schurkey; 03-30-2023 at 03:47 AM. |

There is the one at the very top of the bellhousing shown in this picture, did you remove that one? If so then I would guess the dowel pins are stuck. GM did change the bolt pattern from the SBC to the LS architecture in the rear, 5 bolts are the same, one has been moved to the very top of the pyramid. |
