Although a CD not a book, it will answer most if not all questions on Pontiac Tri-Power. It's called "Pontiac Tri-Power Beginning To End" by Mike Wassan. Great info! You can order it directly from his website. Jim

Score some of these excellent Pontiac reference books.

Great for the 'reading room'.

For those of you who refuse to buy any Pontiac reference material:

I cant believe The GTOAA Pontiac GTO/GT-37 Illustrated ID Guide hasn't been mentioned. A must have for those of you who are into factory correct.

There isn't a better and more complete Identification guide around. Written by Eric White who is an active member of this board.

I've been looking for a book that I bought back in the '80's called something like "The American Supercar". I lent it to someone about two months after I bought it and never got it back. The guy moved about 6 months later taking several books with him that I haven't been able to find again including a book by Waddell Wilson on engine building that was real good. It was a history of American high performance cars going back to the beginning of the industry but focusing on the cars from the '50's on. It was very good and I'd love to find a good used copy again.

I'd say required reading for any hardcore gearhead is old issues of Car Craft circa '98-99

Didn't DeLorean write an expose on GM. Called "On A Clear Day" Sure do miss all those tech article by Pete McCarthy, Alan Leese, and many others in the "Enthusiast". They should compile a sumary. Thats the knowlege that drives this exclusivley Pontiac industry.

Oak--and others who tried to reach me recently.I was back east for about a month taking care of my elderly parents. Unfortunately, my message machine filled up and proceded to turn itself off!(couldn't retreve messages remotely!) and put the caller to ring thru to the fax machine. Basically , I lost three to four weeks of messages.

Thumbs up Both books are a must-have!

You can't consider yourself a true Pontiac enthusiast if you don't own both of the H-O Racing books.

"Best Damn Garage in Town...The World According to Smokey" available from http://www.smokeyyunick.com
A pricey 3-book set, but a fair amount of Pontiac history from the mid-50's to mid-60's as told by Smokey.

Remember newbees it takes time to accumulate these references.I agree with these but who I'm I.The one I used for years before any of these were available was the little book on Pontiacs that I think Motion Performance printed. Many moons ago Jim Mino told me 'follow the factory overhaul manual'
Ken Crocie has 'always' been nice a friendly to talk too when I've called.
I wish B-man would change that 'jingling' avatar its too!!! Or At least use 'red' for the season! Bob

Exclamation Salvage Yard Bible!! Get it!

I found this book to be an excellent source of info on cobbling together missing parts for your car:
PONTIAC MUSCLE CARS Salvage Yard Buyers Guide John R. Miller
Published by PAH Publishing, should run about $22. It covers all Pontiacs, 326 thru 455, for the years 1964 - 1972.

The book basically lists all the parts, by casting or part number, that were identical for various models and engines. So it you find a nice bellhousing from a 69 Firebird, can you use it to complete your 68 GTO? This book will tell you. It's a basic reference - no fancy pictures, no stories.

"Pontiac's Greatest Decade, 1959 - 1969: The Wide Track Era"
by Paul Zazarine

Good Pontiac history, lots of GREAT pictures!

“Basic Cams, Valves, Exhaust Systems” Petersen’s Publishing, 1979

It's a little piece of automotive flash back. There are articles on how to hop up your Pinto, Dodge Colt, header installation on your Ford Courier, etc and good basic engine operation information. Great stuff to look at 25 years later! They can be picked up on line cheap. I don’t know if there is a newer publication of it or not.
