Default Cruise control vacuum release valve

1978 Pontiac Trans Am
Probably a silly question but...
My factory cruise control vacuum release switch that is mounted to the bracket in front of the brake pedal makes a loud audible "click" every time I step on the brake. It operates perfectly but I find it rather annoying. Do they all make the loud click or is mine just noisier than normal?

Here’s both switches in GM, nOS, no click on either. Remove both, see where the click is.

The top one in the picture is the one clicking. It's the vacuum release valve.
I removed it and found that it is somewhat slow to release and when it finally does it clicks loudly.
I tried to clean it up and see if the release action got any better but it didn't.
A quick search showed that these switch valves are not readily available and not exactly inexpensive when you do find them.
I may just have to live with the click.
Thanks everyone.

I forgot to mention that I’m also planning to apply a little silicone lubricant spray to the inside as well to see if the rubber seal softens up a bit to slide more freely in the plastic tube. I hope it works!

Well, silicone lubricant spray was definitely not the answer. It actually made it worse. However, after a few dabs of white lithium grease on the inside, it's as good as new...no more clicks!

I’d just replace it. I just picked up these to have just in case. You can prob get an A-M one pretty easy at the auto parts store.

Yep, you were right. Just replace it. It started acting up again just a few days later. I found that a vacuum release switch for a 1982-1983 firebird (SMP-SLS234) worked just fine in its place and is readily available. It just adds an electrical connection that I'm guessing is to cut power to a TCC solenoid when you step on the brake? It still fits fine though. Thanks!

I can prob find you a used one, Leme know of you want one still. I found a whole nOS dealer install Cruze kit at Dayton, kept the switches and the 2 spedo cables, sold off rest, I like having spare parts on hand just for problems like yours that pop up
