69 GTO front bumper
Is there any type of gasket that fits between the front of the fender and the bumper of the 69 GTO ?

No there is nothing between the rubber bumper and fenders on a 69 GTO.

Thanks for the response. I work on a lot of Mopar cars and they use them on about every piece that fits to the body.

Fender and nose shouldn't touch to allow for frame/body flexing.

How much space between them? Most I have seen look like there very close if not touching.

Others on here more qualified than me but I'd suspect if a piece of paper can slide between then you are good.

Thank you! These cars are incredibly different than any I have done. And much more difficult I might add. I have restored several Mopars (including a 70 Superbird) and Chevelle's, Vettes and a bunch of Ford products. But never anything like this car. Even the door panels seem to be a bigger pain than the others. I do thank you all for any help.

These cars are by far the hardest to line up then any other makes I have worked with. I have seen quite a few guys mess them up pretty bad over the years unfortunately as well.

To me most GM cars are hard to line up. I had a lot of issues with the 71 Chevelle as well. And also a Camaro I did years ago. Mostly with the front end. GM mounts the hood hinges to the fender where Ford and Mopar mount them to an inner fender that is welded in place. So the hood lines up much easier and the fenders really have no bearing on the hinges. At any rate I will get it right (with a little help from people that know the Pontiac line on here) Thanks |

But what do you do if the space between fender and bumper is excessive? I see that on a lot of cars. My bumper brackets contact the core support and the bumper can't be pushed back any closer. Am I supposed to pull the fenders forward? My car is like the OPs, it was rebuilt with body parts from different cars and it was pretty bashed up in the junkyard it ended up in. If I pull the fenders forward the door gaps will be huge. I was thinking of surgery on the bumper brackets.

What we did on mine actually was cut a small section out of the brackets re-welded them and slot the holes on the front and rear bumpers to get a good fit. We spent about 2 weeks doing that.
