Default will I like or hate the ride quality

I've been running Firestone firehawk red line radials on my 66 gto with Hurst wheels.
I've now purchased a set of 14x7 gm steelies, and got a good deal on a pair of Coker bias ply f70-14 tires. I want the look of this skinny tire, but I'm tenatively as I think ride quality is going to be severely diminished.
Anyone doing this?
If it's going to be horrible, I'll just stick with the Firestone firehawks and move them to the steel wheels.

Have you ever driven a car with bias ply tires?

If you enjoy driving your GTO, I don't think you'll like them.

Bias ply tires, by their design, have a pronounced tendency to wander on grooved highways.

That and the fact that the old bias plies will not provide the type of cornering ability that you are used to.

I remember while stationed over in Germany back in the 70's - replacing my bias ply tires with a set of Pirelli radials. Driving on a particularly windy twisty road, where I used to be squealing my tires at 30 MPH I was able to drive 40 MPH with no tire squeal.

When I came home from Germany and bought my first new car (1976 Pontiac Ventura) - I replaced the OE bias ply tires within the first 6 months with a set of 70 series radials.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I did drive my '64 with bias ply tires back in 1997, but the tires were old, so I didn't know if those were the characteristics of bias ply, or old tires.

I dont think you will like them. They squeal just going around a corner when it is hot outside and you might just need that extra traction one day.

I just swapped out my bias ply tires, I'll never go back. I feel that there's a safety issue also.

You don't mix bias ply and radial tires - it can have deadly results. The handling properties are totally different - and not safe to mix and match.
