Costs too much , you could get a 455 in a Judge. They were produced late in the model year and 455 Judges had Ram Air and a twelve bolt. The 455 was an option. The 71 455HO was a much better engine then the 70 455 because the 71 had round port heads aluminum intake like the RA IV .

He did the right thing to sell it off if he knows he isn't going to keep and restore it. But I thought it was going to a car dealer though. I hope it isn't going to a car flipper. Sounds like he's pretty sour over the results of the auction.
I can't imagine where you read no 455s in a 70. I've never heard of that. |

I think the car was sold to somebody on this board! As for mailtruck venting,I can understand your post about the cry babies but lets be real,Im sure you bought it to resell it.That explains why you didnt know what you had. And I think its a little shady to end the auction for all the real bidders who were on it from the beginning! The guy who bought it did not even make a bid on the car,he just privately talked you into selling it. I dont think anyone should be upset about the car, It will allways be known as the car that was rebodied and had a frame change and will never be worth what a true surviving ram iv judge is worth. As for the 36,000 miles,THATS OUT THE WINDOW! JMO.

Also, his charts of factory manuals indicate the 455s as being seperate from the RA 400s and the steepest rear offered was a 3.55 with a 455 engine. so, it stands to reason that RA 455 1970 GTOs could have been a late production run offering, as indicated earlier in the thread. thus the reason there is no factory documentation indicating their existance, that i know of. and back then, who knows what went on, people could have had friends a dealerships and had non-factory options added at the dealer level. ??? I dunno..... I'm very partial to the 1970 GTO, thats one that I have, so ive spent considerable time in looking at what's what with them. and to think i had the ability to buy a set of 64 heads several years ago for 150 bucks. *shakes head*

There's a '70 455 H.O. listed on Traderonline that has factory Ram Air. Very nice car!

There's a ram air 455 70 GTO on ebay now also. They're rare but they did make 'em.

Hey, it was your car, so you could do what you wanted w/it. It was a neat car, so glad to see someone will restore it w/bdy shell. Can you post PHS. It's a shame someone let it sit outside to get to that point. I have 2 70 RAIV Judges, great cars!

I have been into the 1970 GTO's and Judges for years. I have actually seen several PHS documents and build sheets authenticating the RAM AIR option on a number of 455 cars. I've read in several books and magazines (most recently HPP) that there were 14 1970 455 Judge hardtops and 3 1970 455 Judge convertibles made. Those 3 convertibles definitely make the 17 1971 Judge convertibles that everyone ogles over not so rare anymore (although I agree the 1971 455 HO engine was vastly superior to the D-port 455 of 1970).
