Default Cutting ceramic tile for AC duct.

I'm installing two supply ducts and registers to 2 bathrooms in the floor. What's the best method to cut through it and the sub-floor without busting it out at the grout lines or pulling up tile?

If you don't want to buy a saw that you won't use much, you can buy a diamond blade for your angle grinder for around $20. Make sure you hold your shop vac right there while you cut or you'll spread a dust cloud throughout the house.

Cut throughout the tile with the diamond blade and then switch to a jigsaw for the wood.

Don't ask him how he knows this.

Good advice here.

Make SURE there's no wiring or plumbing under where you cut. Drill a guide hole(from the bottom up) to make sure you don't locate the vent where the floor joist is.

Yes it will - I can cut a ceramic tile into a circle with a diamond blade on an angle grinder.

And this right here is why I rarely offer up advice about home improvements on the internet. Some guy who did it on his own house once knows better. But who am I? Just some guy that's been doing this **** every day for over 20 years.

no,i couldnt use a 10'' blade because the opening was close to the wall.i used a 3'' diamond tipped wheel but without any luck,it would cut a line in it but no more.
being my tile was square i just got more and broke the new tile
took only a couple minutes to do.
maybe goatless used different blades than i did but i had no luck with them.
and to cut thru the wood i drilled 3/8 holes on opposite ends of the opening and used a jigsaw to cut it out.

Goatless is right x50. I've cut out circles for toilets with a 4" grinder and a diamond blade. The important thing is to use the diamond blade that is all smooth. Not the one with little grooves on the side. The one to use is made by Mikita, availible at home depot for $25.00. Don't get the cheap version cause the blade will bounce. That same blade will cut rebar or just about anything except wood. Once you use it on something other than tile or drywall don't use it on tile anymore 'cause now it will bounce. If you only cut tile with it, it will last years for that purpose. Take your time and it will cut smooth as butter. Careful not to over cut. Then drill a pilot hole in your wood, then a jigsaw. I've remodeled a million kitchens and baths. By far one of the more valuable tools in the arsenal. FWIW.
