Default no power

trying to fire up new resto . cranked over and not a sputter checked to see if on #1 it was checked for spark zero . change dist. zero checked for power at coil with key on there was changed coil no spark checked with key on again ????? wtf. had a buddy turn key to crank power is gone ran a jumper wire to coil turn the key it runs ... broke it in every thing good so the next day thinking the ing. switch is the problem changed it same thing , all brand new harness any ideas .

Intitially I thought you could have the distributor in 180 degrees off. (I did that 25 years ago)

I'd look for a bad or non-existant ground if you have no spark at all.

Something wrong with the resistor wire or it is not connected to the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid.
