Default '69 Judge on eBay

Just wondering about the numbers and the bidding on this car on eBay. I've emailed the owner for the full VIN as both places in the ad leave a digit or two off? and not gotten a response yet.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-...QQcmdZViewItem

It appears to be a very early '69 body serial number and a build date of 4th week of Aug., too early to be a Judge. It also shows it's an Anitique Gold on Gold car. It also has the GTO nameplate over the a/c/heat control which only came on the earlier cars, plus the mid 70's version of the his/hers shifter. Normally I'd just dismiss it as a bad clone that was being represented as a real Judge, but with the bidding topping $25k already it made me wonder?

Trim code should be 258 for black bucket seat interior.

Brake pedal has an awful lot of wear for a 13K mile car. Brake M/C is wrong, pre-heat duct is wrong, etc.

13k miles...I don't think so.

yep, it is pretty easy to pick a lot of things about it that don't seem right. The price and the speed that the bids got up there just made me think maybe I was missing something, maybe someone pulled the PHS and its a real ram air car.

Something does seem awful odd here.
Way too early to be a Judge and the seller probably knows it.

The ad is written specifically to state what you want to hear without backing any of the claims. “ORIGINAL JUDGE “ “numbers matching” “all original”

No PHS and no numbers listed, yet the seller knows enough to list the trim tag numbers?
Plus he obviously is familiar with muscle cars from the conspicuous way he lets you know he has other cars.

Dought it is a RA car either - system looks to be fiberglass and no pull cable.

Originally an Antique Gold car with Gold interior. Built 08D Fremont body 00082. NOT A JUDGE.

Bidders are shill or idiots.

I agree, no way that car is a Judge. Plus, if the car is so original, when was the last time you saw a STOCK dual gate shifter in a 69? No offense to the guy that owns it, but there are a few nicer examples he is competing with this week on ebay.

Maybe it's the same "judge" from the eBay bought sight-unseen/rip-off story that was posted on here a couple weeks ago. It was a Gold/Gold GTO also. Painted orange with interior dyed black.

That's possible, no reply to my email for simple info in 2 days now, not that I'm intersted in the car, just mainly wanted to let the guy know that it looked like he was misrepresenting the car. If it's like the other scam, they will try and sell it off eBay.

On the plus side, he has a ragtop 68 or 69 in the garage and the hood from it is on top of the vette. Take that you old Chevy!

if real the car would bid higher, why would the car have been repainted with such low miles, also why not offer PHS to bring up the value.

The ragtop is a 69 Camaro and it has a Z/28 emblem on the tail panel, but they didn't make a Z/28 convertible in 1969 so it's a fake too.

The hood on top of the vette looks to me like it's off a mid-year vette, (63-67). I don't think the 69 Camaro hood had a raised center section.

I think there was actually one '69 Z/28 convt special ordered for someone who worked at Chevy.

Agree on the hood - looks like a midyear to me. I'm a big fan of the midyears myself; had a '66 convt with a 300 hp 327 (dog!) and a '66 coupe with a 425 hp 427, 4 sp, 4.11's, knockoffs, sidepipes (FAST!).

Scott,

I heard there was one convertible also but I thought it was a 68, maybe I'm wrong.

Wheels have trim rings so can't be original. Not too car smart or can't spell as uses the word 'tack' instead of 'tach'. Calls it 'orange' not 'carosel red' as would anyone who is remotely wise to Pontiacs.

Someone needs to send him an e-mail to this thread. If a link was to here in the early part of the thread it could be hot link to here.
