I have even seen 60s Chebbies at the track who put a LS under the hood trying to go fast, think they are cool. Coil on plug and all that.
Then they run a 12 and I chuckle at them asking them why ? Ruin the car to run a 12.
I know, I know, they can make a ton of power with boost.
I will pay twice as much to not go as fast in a Pontiac than be one of "them".
Calm down..calm down.. I'm just stirring the pot.. I don't believe in cross breeding at all..said it many times..
I would take a 2 barrel 389 in a Pontiac over a 1000hp LS..

A little pot stirring going on myself. I figured you would respond quicker, slowing down my man ! Yep, cross breeding sucks, it goes against the laws of nature.

Don't badmouth all "crossbreeds". I've run Pontiac engines in:

'37 Buick
'60 Ford Falcon
'57 Chevy BelAir
'57 Chevy wagon
'59 GMC
'83 Chevy Suburban ('Bandit' built by Wangers)
Mini-rod puller- numerous V8 Pontiac engines, carbureted/injected/N/A/blown, gas/methanol
Lakester- DOHC hemi Pontiac, blown methanol

Getting back at them is always good.
I would like to build a 69C10 4x4 with a 455 myself.

I have been involved with a couple of of Chevy Suburbans with 455 cid Pontiac engines.

Chassis is just a way to transmit the torque and power.

Same deal with Tempest vs Lemans, vs GTO.

Well... 2022 so far hasn't been positive so far due to parts delays and issues found during re-assembly. The heads are back out for a bit of welding on 2 intake ports "minor cracks that don't go through to the exhaust port" and to address the new valve seat installation issues noticed after head tear down and further inspection.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it. Thanks for the update and good luck with the maintenance.

I have two friends who have done that swap also Jack and the vehicles
perform perfectly.

Would love to find a clean Suburban and do one for myself.

Heads are at Marcella Manifolds to be welded up and refreshed for hopefully a successful 2023 season.

What ETs are you hoping for this year? Didn't know if you had a certain goal in mind. It's pretty damn good for 3600+ lbs.

Thanks! I'd like to run anywhere in the 6's with most of what I have now and then determine next steps.

We'll (John) be welding up all 8 cylinder walls so we can increase the boost in 2023. Drive train upgrades will also need to be considered.

That's a lot of work. Sometimes it pays to be conservative with a high end boost head. It pays dividends with low maintenance and longevity verses little additional power.
