Default SMS News - Door Panels

Just thought I would post this up as a PSA for anyone contemplating ordering door panels from SMS. It appears that due to COVID and worker shortages, they will be suspending production (of door panels only) for a little while.

You would need to order by Sep. 15th...or wait it out.

If you do place an order, expect a lengthy lead time. I ordered a set in January and hope they will be delivered this month....

They had serious problems well before COVID hit our shores. I know of an upholstery man who has waited nearly 4 years on SMS to cover door panels for a '64 Ford. I would never order anything from them.

This /\, except in my case it would be “ expect to be ripped off”! The long wait is one thing. The lies and finally ignoring my emails sucks! I know they have material nobody else has but I could never recommend using them.

Friday I received a UPS shipment notification for my door panels from SMS. I should have them by next Friday!

It took 2 1/2 years from payment to shipment.

I placed (and paid for) this order in January 2021, before they quit taking new door panel orders in Sept 2021.

This means they only have nine months worth of orders left to be caught up,,,,

I have heard they are worth the wait, we'll see on Friday (hopefully)!

Sorry for the slow follow-up on this thread.

They did show up a little later than tracking showed. They showed the following Monday. It took 2yr 5 mos from order.

As everyone has said, they are worth the wait. They went on with a minimum of fiddling and fitting.

Thanks,
James Q

They look great! Thanks for the follow-up. 2.5 years is very frustrating.
