POCI is July 13-16th this year. And I sure hope it makes it there. I bet the pictures don't do it justice. What a beautiful car!

Defender, agree 100%, one He!! of a car!

Not to speak for Dennis or Dan, but Tulsa is a mightly long haul. Bet you will have a better chance seeing the Cat at MCACN or Pure Stock Drags in MI.

Waiting for the front valance to be worked on yet. It will be ready for MCACN, but is back-burnered right now in order to get a couple of cars finished and out of Scott's shop, so won't be at POCI nationals in Tulsa. I know Dan is wanting to see the car finally finished more than anyone.

Watching all the progress makes me want to do a frame off on my 68 2 door sedan but I don't think it will ever happen.

Default The 428HO Catalina is Finally Finished!!!

Well, it's been exactly 6 years ago today, on August 9, 2016, when Dan bought/picked up the '68 Catalina at Norwalk (Pontiac Nationals) and started the restoration (see post #52). Today the final piece was installed, the front under-bumper valance panel! Happy 6th anniversary!

Nope...we're still looking for that elusive shifter handle...maybe we'll find one at Norwalk this week?

74SDformula - Unfortunately not...MCACN will be its first outing. Do you have the Cat wagon that came with a '69 RAIV engine, complete with the long branch manifolds?

I still have the complete RAIV engine but do not have the wagon. I made a poor decision in not going back for the car. Looking forward to seeing your Catalina in the future!

What an excellent restoration. Congradulations Dennis. You did a great job.

I have been watching this thread for some time as I owned this exact car back in 2009. I purchased the car in NJ from the estate of the original owner. At that time the car was in rough shape but still had the original, numbers-matching 428HO engine. At that time, I did not have the funds or space to restore such a rare car.

I thought everyone would like to see a few photos of the unrestored car. Notice the "Raceway Park" racing sticker on the passanger side quarter window.

Regards, Rocco S.
