ia2 block 4.375 bore
Sd ported edelbrock heads. Just under 370cfm now. Heart shaped chambers.
SD ported Torker 2 and ultra hp 950
10 to 1 ross pistons
Eagle rods
Scat 4.5 stroke aerowing crank
Crower shaft mount 1.7
Mild comp nitrided solid cam
Msd 6al
Hustler 2" primary headers, the only ones i could find to fit at the time. 1 tube runs outside frame on pass. side.
Edel water and fuel pumps
Cheap edel. Valve covers and air cleaner that i threw on in a rush to the dyno
C/w built turbo 400 with continental 2800 stall
Ford 9" disc brake rear with 3.25 ratio
3" full exhaust with flowmaster super 40's
All in all a pretty mild combo. Cam upgrade coming soon I think
On an old school inertia dyno it ran just under 600hp and 700 ftlbs.

Eagle H-Beam rods
Kaufman Racing D-Port Heads
Ferrea Stainless valves

1967 GTO 3525 lbs w/quarter tank of 93 octane, T400 with switch pitch 1500/3000 rpm converter, 9" Ford 3.89 to 1, M/T 28x10.5x15 slicks.
428 bored 0.030, Hard Block add up to freeze plug holes, Steel 4 bolt main caps, 421 crank 0.010 under, Childs & Albert rods, thermal coated KB pistons, Total Seal gapless rings, stock pan with L&R kick outs.
Very early Edelbrock round port heads, 2.11/1.79 SS valves, 84 cc chambers, 9.67 to 1 compression ratio.
Racer Brown solid flat tappet cam, 240/250 @.050. .485 lift, 114 lobe seperation, set at 104
Torker II intake, Holley 750 DP, Essex SX18201 130 GPH @ 10 psig fuel pump, Mallory boost referenced regulator.
HEI dist. using only the mag PU, Jacobs coil and control box, 18 degrees initial, 35 total by 1800 rpm.
Hedman Husler headers, 2" pri, 3.5" collectors, 3 " mandrel bent pipes and Flow Master mufflers,
ProCharger P600B centrifugal supercharger, billet impeller, 12 rib belt, 3 core intercooler 3.5"x24"x6".
HP and Torque depend on pulley diam. used, I have several pulleys.
With 2.75" pulley HP is 586.
Car ran at several drag strips including New England Dragway and Lebanon Valley. Best runs were 10.85 and 126.79 (not on same run).
Car was built over 20 years ago and still runs strong but is rarely raced now due to my health. The GTO now has a 200-4R and 5 disc lockup converter. Even with the T400 it was driven 4 hours to NY to race and 2.5 hours to Conn to car shows. It has been a very reliable car proving if you build it correctly from the start it won't let you down. Also if you don't beat on it the engine runs very well on 87 octane gas.

Update on this.
To get away from detonation, I swapped heads to 6X-4. The following year, near the end of the season, I did a compression check. One cylinder was half of what the others were. So that engine came out.
The new build went in. It is destined for my '75 Firebird, but that car will be a while yet.

I thought the other engine ran well. Test drive with this one: spun the T/A's to 5800, shifted to second, still spinning and started going sideways. Got out of it then.
Hopefully I will get a track time at the once a year drags, depending on tech.

Update on this setup. Excellent street manners. Very driveable even with 3.36 gears and the wide ratio Muncie. Put about 3000 miles on it.

Been running great, pulled engine/trans and front clip from car. Upgrading trans, engine had oil leak and taking 'factory' a/c out and going back to regular heater setup.

Decided fuel pressure was a little low at the dyno session in 2017, and wanted to see the oil leak. Found leak (lifter valley pan) and fixed and then did some FP and timing tuning and ended up at 575 peak HP, 598 peak tq, while still running 93 octane pump gas. Did go thru all the valves and found one intake valve was .002" out of where they should have been. All others were almost right on according to my notes from 2017.

Then sprayed it with a 100 shot of nitrous and saw 662hp on first pull. After final tuning was 665hp and 675tq.

With a Richmond OD 6 speed, this thing will be a blast.

This is what I’m building for my ‘62 Safari wagon. I’ve got a fair amount of race parts laying around so I thought I’d get some use out of them. The entire short block is from the 500” alcohol motor that made 1050hp. I sold the Tiger heads and matching manifold so the top end is different. This engine will go in front of a Liberty LSC5100 5-speed.
IA2 4.35
Crower billet ultra light 4.21 3” mains
Venolia pistons on aluminum MGP 6.800 rods
Comp cams solid roller, 4/7 swap, Intake 288@.050, .477 lift, Ex. 290@.050, .462 lift. Lift with 1.8 rockers is In..859 Ex..832 Crower lifters
Kauffman high ports, 70cc flow 405@.800 Jesel shaft 1.8 rockers Compression should come in around 12:1
Intake is starting out as a Gutsram but will end up being cut up, lowered, home built (kinda) Frankenstein like bathtub with two 850 holleys.

This will not in any way be a race car. It’ll be my once in a while giggle to work or town car. It will also tow the funny car and have the body stand, starter, and battery pack in it.

I’m finishing up the engine for my 67 GTO now. It’s a street car, weekend cruiser and occasionally take to work when the weather permits. The engine build is as follows:

1968 428 block out of a Bonneville.
Bored .030” with a total of 432 cubic inches
Factory modular crank
Billet 4-bolt main caps w/arp studs
Crank scraper and baffled oil pan
Scat H beam connecting rods w/ arp 2000 bolts
Icon forged pistons w/ 10cc dish; pistons .010” in the hole.
Lunati 20510713 hydraulic roller cam (243/251@.050” .618/.622 lift w/ 1.65 rockers)
Johnson Hylift short travel hydraulic roller lifters (.058” total plunger travel)
Harland Sharp 1.65 full roller rockers
Butler/Smith Brothers 5/16”x.116” pushrods
Edelbrock RPM round port heads. (Out of the box setup by Butler Performance)
Prw fabricated valve covers
Offenhauser low rise 2-4 intake manifold
Factory distributor with Pertronix igniter 2 and flamethrower coil; distributor setup by advanced distributors
2-Edelbrock 1405 (500cfm) carbs on progressive linkage
Centerforce billet flywheel w/ McLeod street extreme clutch

I’ll be putting this on the run stand in a week or 2 then mating the Super T-10 to the engine and re-installing it. Late spring, after a thorough break in, I plan to put the car on a chassis dyno for my own pleasure. My goal is around 500 wheel. I’m aware I can’t stick it to the ground with my current 255 tires and i don’t think my bop 8.2 would handle the power if I could stick it anyways. An aftermarket 12 bolt or 9 inch is likely my next upgrade in the future.

I have finally completed my overhaul and slight betterment to my -77 Grand prixes 400cid engine.
block was bored 30 over and honed. Nothing else was done this time. New bearings on all places.

Engine specs:
4x- 6 heads, new valves, springs and seats were modified for the new type of umbrella rubber seals.
252H Compcams camshaft
Compcams Rollertip rockers
Hy-Lift Johnson lifters, one did bottom stuck in dyno but reasemling it worked.
Sealed Power L2279NF30 Dome pistons -11cc
H-Beam Adept Performance rods, full flotating
Quadrajet, had to restrict my idle by pass channells to richen it enough.
Orginal log style manifolds, we could got more with better ones.
High flow water pump.
High pressure oilpump.

Engine made 342HP and 610Nm (450 ftlb) Torque, and would made more with better exhaust manifolds. But i didnt have them available. Im quite happy with the build.

https://youtu.be/siCtUL0shSs 2 Dyno pulls and timing adjustment beetween.

Default "Butchers Special" Engine

Its been a while since i built an engine and I have a nice collection of parts on the shelves, in the barn, etc. With time catching up to me, I figured I would put some of them together. This is not a MAX Effort engine, but a pump gas street engine. My goal was to keep it below 600 HP, closer to 500. Best I can figure 9.9 to 1 CR

-69 400 block +.060 2 bolt with Studs, short fill with Pontiac Dudes filler
-Stock crank .010/.020
-PPR Ultra Lite Rods
-ICON -14 cc dished pistons and Total seal Moly rings gapped for spray.
-72cc E Heads CNC ported to 325 by SD Performance. Upgraded to 2.19/1.77 valves.
-Crane Solid Roller 236/244 @50 1:65 rockers making about .600 lift, degreed straight up.
-Warrior Intake
-Milodon 8 QT pan, crank scraper, windage tray M-54-DS pump (60 lb)
-GMPP 502ZZ EFI wiring harness with MEFI 4a PCM, Fast dual sync distributor and a Fast 4150 1000cfm Throttle body with (4) 100 lb injectors.
-Heddman Hustler stepped headers
-I built a test stand and it fired right up and idles well with the small SR cam. After I run it a little, it will go to the dyno at Smittys Engine and Trans in Vasser, MI for tuning as smitty is a master at tuning the MEFI system. I used the MEFI because I am familiar wth it from a couple boats I had. Its not as good as the new stuff but adequate. Comments are welcome!
