Theres a Vitachrome Graphics based out of Santa Fe Springs a few miles south of Rosemead.

Could be the same company.

Well, I'm committed now. I bought an old ALPS thermal printer to output waterslide decals. Most importantly it can print white. Amazing that nothing better has come along in 20 years. This should really help with turnaround time as the shop I've been using for decals takes their sweet time and is pretty expensive. The irony is it appears that these weren't water slide decals at all, but I think it's the closest to the way they did it back in the day.

While I get my own site up and going, I started putting the decals and silkscreen kits on Etsy: gastiresandoil.etsy.com

I appreciate all of you that have supported this project and sent originals to reference. Super helpful!

My current backlog:
'70 400 emissions
'71 455HO automatic
'68 A-Body tire pressure
'68 Firebird jack instructions
'68 A-Body jack instructions
'67-'68 Ram Air air cleaner service instructions

I have been following this thread as I have noticed that the repops often left something to be desired, but until that last post, I wasn't really following because anything was being done that I was interested in... I am now following for a different reason

Got my order in for a couple of items ... I already screwed it up ... didn't put them both in the cart as the same time ... so it's two seperate orders ... feel free to throw them in the same shipment if that's easier.

Much appreciated!

Made some progress on the '70 emissions last night. Still some work to do to, but it's already way closer than the current repro. The experience on the 455HO decal really made this one come together much faster.

sorry for the tangent here, should there not be three Firebird/GTO 1970-400 decals?
std 'L78'
RAIII 'L74'
RAIV

I thought I remembered reading ages ago that there were RAIII & non-RAIII emissions decals.

Please (anyone) correct me here...

Looks like it - there's definitely a different one for L78/L74 vs RAIV. I'm pretty sure the one above is for standard L78s.

Ames lists a few "correct" '70 emissions decals so I wonder if I even need to be bothering with this one. They also note the correct ones don't have rounded corners, so it looks like I got that wrong. Need to find some pics of original cars.

PC : 1970 400 4 BARREL EMISSION
PD: 1970 400 AND 350 4-BARREL EMISSION (non-GTO 400 4bbl?)
PA : 1970 EMISSION DECAL (??)
PE: 1970 RAM AIR IV EMISSION

PA - 8 cyl. 2bbl.
PB - 8 cyl. 4bbl.
PC - 8 cyl. 4bbl., HP
PD - 8 cyl, 455
PE - 8 cyl. RA IV

And, as you found out, NO rounded corners.
One thing you may have to look for is updated PN on the decals.

Looks like Ames list a correct...
PC (PN X185BA or FX627A)
PD (PN X239A)
PE (PN X350A or FX624A)

I believe that this one is incorrect.

LINK

From this I would guess that PB is a full sized car 400-2bbl tag - and unlike the others, it's white!?!?

Also...

I believe that is also incorrect;
Between 1969 & 1974, you Pontiac did not build a 350/4bbl;
In 1974 it was GTO (x-body) specific;
In 1975 it was available in A & F bodies;
In 1976 it disappeared again!?)
In 1977 it came back... and that was the last year of the P350

If I was to chance a guess, I would think that HFR hit closer to home, and that it might look something like this:
PA - 350 2bbl.
PB - 400 2bbl.
PC - 400 4bbl., HP
PD - 455
PE - RA IV

It's odd that the versions of the 400-4bbl motor would all use the same emissions tag - but if you guys say that's what it is, then, I'll believe you.

Jonny, I know if you go into the 1970 Firebird Assembly Manual, Section 35N, you will find the document that tells you what engine code goes with what decal. But my 1970 GTO, with the YS engine, came with the PB decal (pictured earlier). Now, because of the updated drawing (look at the PN's), later cars may have came with the PC decal. Only research will tell.

Looking at some build sheets. Earlier GTO's (400's and 455's) got the PB decal. Later updated to be what is on the document found in the Assembly Manuals.

Ken, I asked in the Ames satisfaction section on if someone is working on a "correct" PB decal. I pictured it earlier and would be one to make if they're not.
Maybe you can do a "correct" paper 1970 KT tire decal(s). There is an early and late (misspelled TEMPEST).

I paused on the '70 labels and picked back up on the '67 HO and '68 Ram Air air cleaner screens since I had a few requests for them. These were tricky to get the size and the text right! First pass came out pretty decent.

Wow, that looks great! Your screen printing quality is impressive! You seem to have this down and I expect are building a following!

When you get back to those 1970 emission stickers....

There is at least a market of one for a PA sticker.

Would this be a viable process for refreshing the labels on a fuse box?

Possibly. It would probably be tedious to screen since it's not a flat surface, but I could see it working with some effort.

Thanks for the reply. So something like an adhesive stencil would be better?

Depending on the size of the type, an adhesive stencil (made on something like a Cricut) and an airbrush might be a better option. I haven't really studied the fuse box on my '68 too closely, it may not be as complicated as I think. I'll give it another look.
