I know the car well. I owned it for several years, bought it from Ray (cat62) well known member here. He painted the car, did a beautiful job. Then I kinda took the car up to the next level. Had the interior freshened, took the motor and transmission out, cleaned and repainted everything. The car had 8 lugs on it when I got it from Ray, I removed those and replaced them with the steel wheels, put the HD aluminum finned drums on the front. I showed the car in AACA, it is a Sr. Grand National car and won the High Performance Award from AACA. It is a factory built 425a / 4 speed car, PHS documented and. It retains its original motor and transmission. I sold the car several years ago , the gentleman that owns the car now has had it professionally maintained since he has owned it. You won't find a nicer one. The underside is just as nice as the top. Hope that helps answer your question

thanks tommy. I will regret selling that car to the grave. I hope it doesn't wind up on the circuit now.

Not many know what that car is. Only a handful. I bet less than ten people on this board know what it is. Lets just hope the person who bought it doesn't put it on 20s with air ride. I see you picked up a 60 Tommy.

Ray,
I did pick up a 60 Ventura, 425a 4 speed car and I also just got a 63 Grand Prix. The GP is also a 4 speed car. Sold the blue 61 Ventura last week. Take care

What is special about that car? Was it Bunkie's car or something?

There is a very nice #s matching triple black '62 GP 425a 4 speed car sitting in a metal building about thirty miles from me, along with a #s matching L88 Corvette and several other very nice cars. A 425a with all of it's original components isn't something one trips over every day but they ARE out there.

Is your 60 Ventura a brown car from Akron? I thought that 62 would have done better. I don't know if it's economy, election year, or a market correction, but it's a soft market for these cars.

I almost think it's because most people haven't got the slightest clue about what the old hi-po Pontiacs really are. There's just this constant blather on Barrett etc, about chevys, fords and mopars and the old Ponchos aren't respected.

No, my 60 is a red Virginia 4 speed 425a car. As for the 62 at BJ, I suppose it was just the wrong place and the wrong people present. But this is why one should never put a car like that in an auction with no reserve, you have no control over what happens.

We ran our Black 62 convert at Indy. We had 1 phone bidder, and not one buyer at auction. Year before we took a gold 62 convert and people all over it. The black is one of the top 3 62 converts I have seen, and I have been a 62 fan since I was a teenager. I don't get the market at all!!

Default 62 425A

I think I saw this car in St Charles IL at POCI's national convention in 2012. Told the gentleman that was showing it on the owners behalf to let him know if he ever decided to sell I'd be interested. Even sent the owner an email telling him I'd like to have it when he was done. Never heard a peep.
