Default 67 Firebird 400 Grills

The 67 Firebird Grills PY sells are not correct for a 67. The 67 grills are silver not charcoal as PY has. They are selling the charcoal 68 grills for use in a 67. Other resto houses sell the correct silver, why not PY?

It sounds like you just got the 68's instead of the 67's. PY has both. The 400 grills are different also.

I didn't buy any yet. The color on the PY site for the 67 grills is charcoal, same as the color noted for the 68 grills. The 67 should be silver. If the 67 grilles are truly silver, then the PY info needs to be updated.

I went out and checked the parts we have in stock and it seems our pictures and descriptions were incorrect. Here are the corrected descriptions and the pictures I just took:

1967 FB non-400 grills
silver grill w/ black grill bars.

1967 FB 400 grills
silver grill w/ black grill bars and a chrome grill strip as pictured.

1968 FB non-400 grills
black grill w/ painted silver grill bar trim.

1968 FB 400 grills
black grill w/ painted silver grill bar trim and a chrome grill strip as pictured.

If these don't look correct, please let us know.

Steve

I thought ONLY the 67 400's were argent, mine were. And the 326's were satin black? thinking the Argent Grills were part of the 400 package.

Nope. All 67 grilles were argent. 400s had the chrome "hockey sticks". 68s were charcoal, again with 400s having the chrome bars.

I knew about the chrome bars thing, but I've honestly never have seen a 67 326, or a 68 350 car with the silver, only the 400's.

You won't see any 68 350 car with silver, those were charcoal.
When I bought my 67 400, it had a front bumper/grill setup from a 67 non-400 car. Silver non-chrome bar grills and the bumper with no holes in the nose for the arrowhead. Only the 400 cars had the arrowhead on the nose.

He had the original 400 bumper and chrome bar grills which he gave me. The bumper had a dent in the nose, the grills were cracked, and the chrome bars were pitted.
I have since had the bumper rechromed and the dent removed and am getting ready to buy new 400 grills.
I have seen some of places sell the only charcoal grills stating they are for 67 and 68 cars. If someone wasn't aware of the difference then that's what they would buy for a 67.

The PY catalog recommends the repo grills for the repo front bumper. Does this mean the repo grills will not fit well in an original bumper?

So what you are saying is we need repo bumper and grills for a good fit on the grills ? I thought the repo bumpers did not fit the car well, or did I just hear wrong ?
