Default a kind of buzz vibration felt in the steering wheel

not a Pontiac....A caddy Allante, rack and pinion, straight ahead not bad, gets more noticeable when turning wheel slightly.

Plenty of fluid... this seem like a pump or rack issue? changing rack on this thing is a real pain...rather diagnose the issue before doing R&R

Thanks for any suggestions.

george

Are there bubbles in the fluid?

You may have a return hose sucking air.

Could it be a wheel bearing? I had a slight vibration that could be felt in the steering wheel on a 4th gen trans am. Could only notice it on gentle turns. It was a damaged wheel hub.

Mounts are fairly fresh. I'll check the return hose, thanks. Could a warn pump do it? What would be the signs of a warn pump? Could running with low fluid wear out a pump?
