Default D98

Does anyone know what the D98 sport stripe option was in 1970?

Found this on facebook ;
Was an early option in 70, see The Humbler commercial. Was an option on LeMans/ Tempest Gt-37 as well. And was not called a Judge Stripe, its the D98 Sport Stripe option.

OGR, from all invoices ive ever examined it was indeed an early option. The D98 appearance stripe on a '70 GTO was simply one of the color combinations of the '69 Judge stripe, with certain exterior color '70 GTO's getting certain color stripes. The late intro '70 1/2 GT-37's received the same stripes as part of the WU2 GT-37 package.

Wasn't the GT-37 stripe two colors as opposed to the three colors of the GTO's?

71 GTO, Lemans, T-37 ordered with D98 and pre-mid February 71 built GT-37 would all have two color stripes similar to the 3 color Judge stripes.

Don't know of any non-Judge GTO built with the three color stripes or sword stripes like late 71 GT-37 came with.

How about this one?
This is a pic of a 71 that was supposedly special ordered by a dealer; included the stripe.

Yep those are two color D98's (not Judge).

I'm thinking of the 69 Judge/ early 70 style stripe as a two color., not the 71 eyebrow style. Was there such a thing or perhaps I am getting my styles confused.

71 model GT-37's were built till aprox. 2nd week of March of '71. During that 2nd week the 71 1/2 fender piercings and sword style stripes were introduced for GT-37's. The 2 color red/white or red/black stripes continued to be the used when D98 stripes were optioned on late '71 2 door Pontiac Abodys (including GTO's).The reflective sword style stripes w/o GT cutouts were then introduced for '72 models.

Mark's pic shows his 70 GT-37 stripe (3 color), same stripe used on the 69 Judge.

I saw that. I must have been thinking of the 71 eyebrow.

I assume the Tempest, T-37 and Lemans could get the D98 stripe as an option as well.

Judge273
Yes. Dan Jensen's '71 T-37 is an example of the eyebrow stripes.
Not sure about '70.
