Lee,I am very sorry for your lose. There is no depths that certain human beings will stoop to.It has probably been stripped for parts, etc.,already so check for parts for sale that were on your car and that may lead you to the scumbags. It worked with a friend of mine from Florida All the best bigpop

you have my sympathies. Now put your head together, follow your instincts for :
Who would know about your car's safe keeping;
Why it was worthy of theft.
When it was vulnurable to theft.
Resources to pull the theft off at the time it was done {day or eve or night]

High School puke or 20something punk. Or professional theft.

Perhaps display SOME particular stampings on this site on the heads, block, crank, carb, trans rear, etc so that we all can be on the lookout.

Good luck.
Peace,

H.I. Stud

I drive over 1000 miles a week between Pennsylvania & New Jersey. I spot Goats a mile away. I see this one, state troopers will be all over it in a minute. Wish you the best. By the way, for the benefit of the rest of us who "assume" our cars are safe (in locked garages), what were your circumstances surrounding the theft?

You're doing the right thing. Contact all clubs and especially look for any officers who belong, they can do much to follow through where the regular police will not care.

On new years eve, my business partners, moms, 68 GTO was stolen...we thought we would never see it again...fortunately it was easy to spot...Chrysler Plum Crazy with black top and hood tach. We put the word out to everyone we could think of...and someone spotted it in Vancouver WA, just across the river from Portland. After some detective work of our own in the area, we figured out who stole it(we didn't know him, it was a crime of oportunity), but still could not locate him, but the word was out. A drug house was busted, they found the car in the garage, we had raised such a stink, that the cops knew just who to call, we didn't even have to tow it.

At least we got it back, however, our detective work triggered someone to tell him we were looking, they rattle canned it with two brands of slightly different color cheddar cheese yellow over the purple...it looks horrible!

But we have it back!

Good luck

Karl

Lee,

I copied your post and will be checking VINs this summer at the shows.
This lowlife is either going to show it off, swap the VIN or sell the parts. It's got to show up somewhere.

Kurt

That really sucks man, That was pretty stupid on there part. I mean, it's not a Honda Civic, not like its an easy car to hide. It will stick out like a sore thumb. Good luck man. I hope you find it.

I will keep an eye out for this vin too. I am confused about it though. Shouldn't the vin have a "9" after the "F" indicating a 69? Also I don't remember reading anything about a CCL before the vin number. Can anyone shed some light on what these represent and why the "9" is not after the "F"?

I'm with Kurt on this one too. I will watch very closely for this one as I constantly have my head in the papers and Internet searching for Pontiacs/GTO stuff.

If we all watch with a sharp eye, we'll get it back for yah!

Damn SOB's.

CCASS, how about starting a new Forum for "Stolen Parts/Autos" so that this information is not eventually buried/lost?

You guys are GREAT !!!
I really appreciate all of the support.
One posting was correct in that i had the VIN number incorrect.
We created a web site with the correct VIN, the car description and a PIX of the car so you can check it out if you like.

Oldgoat. Very sorry about your loss. You are now covered all the way to Texas. That car will turn up again. It is too pretty to part out. I would expect a VIN change. I always put 2 or 3 of my business cards taped to very unusual places in the car in case this happened to me. I could find any one of these in ten minutes or less. This would be enough evidence to start an investigation on a car with a different VIN #.Etching or stamping your State drivers lcense # on the frame out of sight but still someplace that you could feel it even during a car show without raising suspicion would be good also. Many police departments will etch the glass with the vin # on it where all can see that you are aware. Maybe an unsuspecting cop would run the VIN on a trailered car or driver if it was in his face like that. Good luck We will all be looking
