Insurance help
I maybe in the wrong place, but any help would be appreciated.
I am based in the UK and have recently purchased a house in Florida. I have a 67 GTO convertible that I would like to return to the U.S.A. and keep over there. Is there insurance company's that specialise in older cars if so name and number would help get me started. |

I like American Collectors insurance. Whoever you use, make sure you get an agreed value policy.

I have tried Hagerty. see reply below
Hello Mr. Kinggett, Thank you for your below email. Unfortunately, at this time we do not have an insurance product that will suit your needs. Our current program provides an annual policy for applicants who register and garage their collector vehicle in the United States as well as have valid United States drivers licenses and have daily use vehicles insured on a United States personal auto policy. I'm sorry we're not able to be of assistance to you at this time. Thank you for your interest in Hagerty Insurance and best of luck to you! Kindest regards, I will try American collectors Thanks for your help |

I use J.C. Taylor. Have never had to submit a claim (thankfully), but they have been very good people to work with.

Just about any company is going to want to know the garaging address for your car. If there was ever a claim where the company needed to pay out, they would deny it since it is overseas. The reason is basically that insurance companies in the USA are only licensed/bonded in the USA. There is no recognition of our policy regulations overseas like there is here. Plus, all the antique car companies I write for prefer that you keep an eye on your car (or at least have some control over it) when it is parked or in storage.
I called 4 companies that I know of that write collector car coverage and all said NO, but good luck in your search! Ben |
