Default fel pro manifold gasket

Fel-Pro ms 90123...........had them on my car before, so i bought them again........seems the only way they will work is to flip one of them over..........when i pulled them off, didnt pay much attention at the time............does this seem about right for you guys that used these..................both are the same, stamped 90123 R 5

Thanks for any info

Thats kinda of what i was thinking.........wanted to glue them to the head and use some car wax on the other side, just in case i have to take this manifold off again..........backside of the gasket seems rough............guess i"ll give it a shot.

Don't try to glue them. Use the grommets to hold them in place. Not a real need for the wax either (although it will not hurt anything) the blue coating is Teflon.

Forgot to mention these are kre aluminum heads............no grommets....thats why i was asking this question............seems these gaskets are backwards.............im gonna put them in as is............just hard to believe its this complicated to put in a gasket.

Oh...
Maybe a couple of dabs of RTV on each gasket. Let it dry, obviously...

Think of it this way. These gaskets start out in large sheets. The Felpro logo is printed on one side. They use one cutting die to diecut the gaskets out of the sheets. Just flip one over. The little bit of a beveled rough edge you see on one side is from the die hitting the steel cutting jacket on the diecutter. Ask me how I know 😎.

I like Pam or equivalent cooking spray lightly coating gaskets if you think you’re going to be removing it often

I like to put a little sealer just around the water crossover holes... probably not needed though.

This is where Gasgacinch shines. Apply to both the head and gasket surfaces and wait to tack up, then set the gasket in place. Get it right the first time since the two surfaces will stick immediately. The good thing about Gasgacinch is the gasket will peal back off leaving a slight residue in a few areas that can be easily rubbed off with the fingers. Sort of a rubber cement for automotive use.

I always use Ultra Grey around the coolant holes and that pretty well dooms the gasket for reuse. If I don't trust the ability of the manifold surfaces to totally seal, I'll cheat and apply a very light coat of Ultra Grey around the edge of the ports to fill in any possible gaps. Kind of penny wise and pound foolish in worrying about saving the gasket for reuse.
